Default Best kept Secret

I was sitting in a grocery store parking lot today with the windows down, and I over heard a couple of store employees commenting on my car while they were taking a smoke break.
A 30ish blond said it looked really short, the guy (in his late 50's) said Mazda built something like it. But this one was a DODGE.
And the Mystery continues............

I got a complement on my car (that I've had 2.5 weeks) today outside of the courthouse from some lady sitting in her 90's Cavalier. She rolled down the window as I was walking to my door and said, "That car is REALLY pretty." Which I was more than happy to agree with. These cars are just magnets for positive attention, I love it!!!!!!

I'm not even going to comment on how many folks have called my car ugly. And even an SRT-4 guy said it!

On topic of Chryslers and grocery stores:

A couple days ago I drove my Crossfire to the grocery store to grab a quick protien bar before the gym and I see a beautiful PT Cruiser right as I come in. I notice on the spot, and from previous research, this was a rare Dream Cruiser. It was a Street Cruiser: Sunset Boulevard Edition. A rich ruby/burnt orange metallic with crisp chrome accents. Very nice.

Comming out of the store and into my car, I see the lady who owns the PT. Carefully, very carefully, I creep from one row to the next for a direct route to the PT.

I roll down the window and ask the lady if it was a Dream Cruiser. You know just to give her a chance to feel good about her ride. She was taken aback and didn't understand. I quickly mentioned it looked great and I thought it was one of the special ones. She reply's that she thought I was one of her husband's friends giving her a hard time about her PT Cruiser.

She should not be ashamed. They are iconic little cars and I've always wanted one since they first came out. A timeless design remeniscent of the Prowler supercar. Besides a sludgy base engine, what's not to love? With careful maintenance there should never be a problem.

I hope I gave the lady a little bit of pride of ownership for her car with a compliment comming from someone in an amazing Crossfire.

I like the new Chryslers, but the previous image if Chrysler embodied my personal style. From the PT Cruiser to the Crossfire, there was something about every model in the lineup I loved; yes, even the last Sebrings.

If a C-SRT4 guy said it, he should be shot, scratch that, any SRT4 is pretty hard on the eyes, and you know what they say, can't buy class.

This is one of the only models of car that after nearly 10 years on the road, everyone still thinks they are brand new. I HIGHLY doubt any SRT, more than likely with a fart can exhaust, is going to be mistaken for brand new

I agree she should not be ashamed, but the build quality of those car is absolutely abysmal. I have driven hundreds of them (used to work for a rental agency when they were very popular) and IMHO they are junk cars. Maybe the upper models were better and I am sure the turbos were alright, but the base models we had were HORRIBLE.

Then you say the words prowler and supercar together, only way that should happen is if the word 'not' is between them. Under 300HP V6 and around 3000 lbs is no supercar, hell it has a 0-60 over 7 seconds, damn near any family sedan could beat it, but the styling - second to none. Both examples of how Chrysler screwed up perfect concepts, like some of the things done to the XF.

Plus 1 on the quality of car. Slow motor, terrible gas mileage, worst suspension in the world. Just a terrible car with an interesting body. I say interesting because like the crossfire you either loved it or you hated it, no inbetween. I just remember them being mid 20k dollar cars and everything you touched was cheap and or uncomfortable. Just a sad situation all around

Really? My wife beats the heck out of a 2006 PT Limited for her work van. The seats are removed and we pack that poor car with tons of antiques, 100k+ miles aleady. It's slow but the interior quality it VASTLY superior to the SRT6. First thing I notice when I use the PT is the quiet interior, no squeeks, groans, snapping plastic sounds. The color actually stays on the panels, doesn't rub off on your clothes! Motor mounts give out but that's it so far. Just had to stick up for the PT Cruiser, we like ours! I still love the SRT6 even with it's flaws too.

I had a PT as a rental, and while I wouldn't buy one, I didn't hate my two weeks with the car. Loved the space, the shifter was puny but minor gripes.

My Father-in-Law came into town the other day and asked my wife how we afforded a brand new car with a baby on the way.

Got my 04 Crossfire coupe for eleven five...

I get the rich snob sneer from many folks as well...

Truly reveals how much people don't know about these cars...

13,000 said and done actually.

Tires, wheels, tune, exhaust, intake all in the first month though. That's a chunk of change.

Kid at Holiday gas station asked, "so that's Chrysler's answer to the Porche huh?".

YUP!

Fair enough, I should have said halo car, as it was before the Crossfire. Similarly was the SSR and Thunderbird, both underpowered but still remain some of my favortie cars.

You really can feel the laser eyes when you go to Walmart in a Crossfire. I make sure to park almost outside of the lot just for safety.

Tell you what. Those XF doors open up wide as hell. I worry about smashing other doors as much as i worry about someone hitting my precious.

Fair enough, but that is why I specifically stated the base model, sounds like the limited (which the rental agency did not pony up for) was a much better built car...
