Valve cover questions?
Im about to replace my valve covers and have a few questions I could find the answers to in the forum.
On the lower gasket do you use rvt and a gasket in combination?
If so do I need this? 2004-2008 Chrysler Crossfire Valve Cover Gasket - Victor Reinz W0133-1632508 - Passenger Side, Direct OE replacement
Also what tools do I need? I have a basic ratchet set but not the right sockets?
What is the proper amount of torque? What is a good torque wrench?

I am also curious. I'm looking at taking my valve covers off, cleaning them up and painting them white.
OP, you said lower gasket, is there an upper one as well? Or you talking about the intake manifold gasket?

By the way, what you linked is only the gasket to one side. You'll have to buy the other side. You can get the pair at autozone for about the same price.
Take a quick read through this thread and i think you'll figure out your questions.

tools - female torx socket set ( amazon.com : Amazon.com: 22-pc. 1/4" & 3/8" Dr. Female Torx Socket Set: Home Improvement
( really nice set from Cal-Hawk, 6 each short & deep well, E4,E5,E6,E7,E8,E10 in a nice box )
torque - 7 ft/lbs ( 10 nm )
torque wrench - I bought the $99 digital with case from Brownline : Digital Torque Wrench - Special
HOWEVER !! this wrench starts at 20 nm, so a bit too big for this. ( 7 ft lbs/10 nm is not much, just snug the bolts )
( I have an old 3/8" torque wrench from Sears for little jobs like this )

You make it sound pretty easy. Ideally I'd love to replace it with the NWs Teflon Coated Covers, but the price of a new socket set apparently I can get the look myself.

I was thinking that the black crinkle finish would look really nice, but is a b***h to keep clean.
Also, there is no 'upper' gasket set, that is just RTV sealant.
( I used Permatex 'Ultra Black' a year ago when I bought my roadster, no leaks at all since. )
Can't say enough about the Torx socket set, at $34.95 one of the best buys for Crissie I have made,
