Default I have my Unicorn.

I've been a Crossfire fanboy for the last 6+ months, drooling over pictures and checking the forum every day. The Crossfire has been my Unicorn, a mythical animal that I could never catch and only lived in my imagination. Last night I bought #23841, a black 2004 autostick, from Manassas Chrysler in Manassas, Virginia. Now, as my wife would say, I am a happy boy. I'll be packing my lunch for quite some time, but I'm happy.

I'd have to say that this forum has been invaluable in my quest for my new baby. The car was an easy sell for my wife. The looks, test drive and Mercedes heritage made it a no-brainer.
If any of the other Virginians happen to see me on the road, be sure to give a wave.

Michael

Hey welcome. Black and autostick -- good. Now if you got the 2 tone gray interior you will have made the perfect choices. Don't worry, you will have plenty of time to eat when you get older.

Welcome,

Forget about the bag lunch and go for a lunch drive instead. Won't do much for the body, but will do wonders for the soul.

congrats...i've got about the came version and i just love it more all the time. best car i've ever had and, starting with a 57chevy convert in 1964, i've had a bunch.

you were wise to find this forum early so you should have more realistic expectations for the car. all complex mechanical systems need fixing/adjusting and this car is no different. there will be "issues".

don't be afraid to abuse the automatic transmission. the germans build these things to be driven hard and the only way to get really effective with the auto is to use it a lot. for me, i've learned to anticipate the downshift in advance, hold the shifter hard to the left and trust the machine to be in the best power-range when i'm ready to punch it.

anyway, congrats, again.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm trying very hard not to abuse the transmission, not until I get 1000 miles on it anyway. I love zipping around corners without hitting the brake.
I got the solid grey interior. I would have preferred the 2 tone, but they didn't have any black/2 tone grey cars. The solid grey is still very purdy.

Next step is to get some K&N filters once I'm over the sticker shock. This is the most expensive vehicle I have ever purchased. My last was a 2001 Toyota Solara and I thought THAT car was a bit excessive!

I've only had my car for a week now and I've already clocked up 550 miles. Problem is I'm struggling taking it easy. I just can't help myself. I've gone into the red on the rev counter on numerous times so far. :-)

Congratulations Michael! I'm in about the same place you were in your first post. I love the roadster, I think in red. My dealer is waiting for one he has ordered for another person. It may be in next week. As soon as he calls, I am going up with my $500 deposit, look at it and place my order. In the meantime I keep learning from this forum and I have a copy of azbobk's red roadster photo as the wallpaper on my computer.
I probably won't see mine for awhile, but once I see one and sign on the dotted line, the anticipation will be fun.
As the salesman said to me as I was about to leave the dealership with my new Sebring convertible, "Wishing you miles of smiles".

Congrats! Be on the lookout for 12913...I work in Sterling, commute there from Manassas every day.
