Spark Plugs
Spark Plugs
When you look on ADVANCE AUTO's website there are multiple spark plugs listed that will work for the XF...is there really any advantage in going with the ones that cost a lot vs the $3 ones? The Bosch OE replacements are like $7.
Anyone ever have a Chrysler dealership change them? What did they charge?
At 72,000 miles the '07 still runs like a striped-*** ape........
Remember back in the old days when you had to do your points/plugs/valve adjustments on your VW every time you turned around!!

Needswings : Iridiums are $83 a set.
If ya gotta spend the money, keep it in the family.
Rob's a great guy.

If you did that, then you can change plugs yourself and recover the difference between the cheapo $3-$7 plugs.
( The dealer may do more damage than good ...... )

1979 Datsun B210 Hatchback. You adjust the valves at the end of each leg of a trip.
Even trips to the grocery store. Sad.
Re: Spark Plugs
I went with the plugs and wires from Needswings. It
Wasn't really that bad to do with the install tips here On the forum. I changed them right before the cross country trip to CAA Denver and California. It ran great and got really good gas mileage. I priced good plugs and wires other places and their prices were not out of line.

Re: Spark Plugs
I have not done mine yet as I'm only sitting at 17K miles.
I'll do'em at 25K miles, and when I do, I'll use the Needswings plugs, and probably change the wires.
Check this thread to make life a little easier:

Re: Spark Plugs
I bought mine at Advance Auto parts as well just make sure they are double platinums. The total price was I think about $70 plus tax but believe me it's worth it. My engine light was on for a whole year and my car would always shut down randomly. I decided to change my plugs when it finally shut down in the middle of a 4 way stop. Ever since then, the car is a million times faster, shifting gears seems preety different I had no idea spark plugs would even make a difference when it came to shifting gears but it did. My engine light is finally off. I took it to Advance to hook up the machine to check for more codes and there are none. The spark plugs are well worth it. I changed out the plugs by myself with no one's help. Yes I'm a female 22 I'm used to working on hondas but I'm not going to lie, this German car was a beeeeeeeeetch until I figured out how to change them. My hands are cut up so if you have a child with little hands that would help you soooo much more! Make sure you get 12 plugs...yes 12 plugs. I almost died when I found out it needed 12 plugs but The Xfires are the Mercedes SLKS just with a Chrysler body and those also require 12 plugs as well as some of the Jags. Other than that you will be happy once the new plugs are in you'll notice a HUGEEEE difference. As soon as my camera comes in I'm going to make a vid
Re: Spark Plugs
Funny you should post this now.. I have about 1,000 miles on my plugs.. and they finally had juice applied yesterday.. they rode around in the car that long! Knew what fun it was going to be.. and wasn't dissapointed in the least..lol.. 3 hours later (last 45 in the dark) I was done.. Idles smoother..but other than that.. I'm guessing at being 77,000 miles someone else has changed them out..but can't swear to it. Looked really good on the old plugs.. but maybe chemtool and lucas have something to do with that. All I can say.. at least there was very minimal blood loss over it! I love my Miata.. especially at plug change time.. LOL..
