Engine cuts out / limiter kicks in when accelerating??
Hi Guys,
I have a 2004 Limited Crossfire Coupe with 98k (already done a 100k service).
The car started to kick back when accelerating for the first time today and I could barely drive the car over 40-60km/h without the car feeling like its going to cut out and kicking back consistently. I had to really ease on the accelerator but it would still kick back a bit.
It did cut out once while driving, had to kick it back over but started up fine.
Any ideas?

Just took it out a bit after letting it sit off for an hour, still occurs.
Under further inspection it occurs during quick acceleration from standstill and also in any gear, or also around the 3k rev point.
Could it be the fuel pump / sensor / computer?

If it was an auto tranny, I'd say it was the electrical plate or similar and you were in limp mode.

It also became harder to start with longer cranking times.
Fuel Filters also have been known to cause symptoms like you describe.
Its manual transmission with 98k kilometres.
It ran fine this morning no matter how hard I accelerated, but tonight after driving back home it started to occur again... and mostly happens when I accelerate in the half to full throttle area...
I have to get my mechanic to check it out... could driving the car like this damage anything if its just for a short period?

My mechanics put this down to MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor) according to his scanner and diagnostics, error kept occuring after attempting to clear it. My air filters were replaced last service so it cant be them contaminating the MAF.
I've ordered a new MAF for $40 including delivery from eBay, I was quoted $165 for a used and $500 for a new one! Thank god for eBay.
I will let you know if this resolves the problem and removes the error code. I am also going to run Toyota Injector Cleaner fluid through the fuel to make it run like new again.
