Crossfire 2.0
I was stuck in a meeting the other day and started sketching what a second generation Crossfire might have looked like...
I've always wanted to see the next Crossfire get more muscular, more powerful...Perhaps it could be built on a shortened 300c/Challenger platform with a 500hp supercharged Hemi V8!
Any ideas guys? ...Let's design Xfire2.0 together! It would be a great way to spend your taxpayer dollars

Love your work Eric. Show us more.
When I bought my first crossfire, the guys at the dealer were obvious fans. When I mentioned that the car was essentially the same for all model years. They suggested, in unison, "you can't improve on perfection.'
I'll bet you can!

Those sketches are really nice. I'm glad to see that you put back some of the concept features that somehow disappeared by the time these things got into production. The big brother to the abused Crossfire is back to kick your car magazine writer's ****. I like it.
Thanks...Yeah I was thinking the same thing of going back to the original vertical headlights and full-face grill. I thought it would be really cool to have the lamps transition into chrome "blades" that run the length of the fenders.
One of the biggest problems with the rear is aerodynamics....lift and drag. That's why the Crossfire has the pop-up spoiler, and the SRT6 has the bat-wing on the back. For 2.0 I thought it would be cool turn the winged emblem into an integrated edge to slice the air off the rear. The edges coming off the corners also helps the air cut away and leave a clean wake.
FYI did you know the first time we tested it in the tunnel it got a .43? That's worse than a Grand Cherokee! Later we got it down to a .37.

I like what you got, the thing i want is a sleeker front end. like.. if you look at our car next to a "super" car like Enzo, Gallardo, SLK... etc you will notice the front end is much more aggressive. I want the aggressive front end.
( I apologize for the run on sentence, I just really got into the moment! BAH)
And the rear window is already small enough, how would i do anything in reverse if it gets smaller?

Welcome to the forum!
The bobbed rear of the x-fire is one of my favorite features! Sheet metal design as opposed to wings would be very nice
I have always liked the long hood, with the driving position way aft.
Love the vertical headlight theme as well, with an aggressive grill.
Oh, and more power under the hood is always a +
Would like to see more of your concepts

Eric. Thanks for your thoughts on this 2nd generation idea. To be honest, I think the my car's original design is just classic. The rounded edges, the boattail are all reminiscent of the classic cars of the 40's, and that's what I like about it best. I believe that someday this car will be a very highly sought after classic.
What I'd like to see is a thin horizontal light bar in the back, a more tapered front, similar perhaps to a Jaguar, a slightly more elongated back, so the hatch ends on a "flatter" surface of a trunk if you will, and fender flares over the wheel wells.
I know you're in the business of designing new cars, but really, your design of the original car that was produced was really beautiful to me. A beautiful combination of power, function and form. To me it is right up there with the Studebaker Avanti which I consider to be one of the best designs for the masses, or the an updated version of the AMC AMX which I thought was always underappreciated. It gives me a great feeling every time I get in this car. And I haven't had a car that gave me that feeling for a very long time. Mark, Mpls, MN

Move the greenhouse back further by about 12", mount the engine further back 12". Keep the overhangs tight, but a long hood is a classic shape in an FR car.
I like how the designers get to think about aerodynamics, it's obvious in the care you put into the diffusers in the rear, which would definitely decrease lift. I imagine also that there is underbody aero in place here too.
The Hemi is a decent engine, but it's overweight for its power output. If I were free to imagine, in its place would be a DOHC 4.0L aluminum V8 with dry sump. 94mm bore, 72mm stroke - oversquare, revving to 9200rpm.

I wonder what HP it would put down. If you look along the same lines I would guess somewhere around 360 would be a nice starting point...
btw, Eric. Any chance you can get the ECU and PCM designers in touch with TVT and LET so this thing can get cracked asap.

Now I am no artist as you indeed are, but that is what the lines intantly said to me.
You have my support for a more muscular look.

Either way Eric has something to start us off with.
It looks more evil than the now retired model, but I have 1 complaint... The 300/ challenger/ e class chassis. If this were to be a success, it needs to be engineered from the ground up. The crossfire really should have been Chrysler's vette. A v8 option would be a must, as well as a manual tranny and a good paddle shift/ dsg unit. Maybe american car makers will get it right eventually..
I love the sharp clean exit of the boat tail in the rear. It does raise the question about rear visibility. Vertical headlights with a chrome piece as you suggested would retro the design. I like it. Perhaps put turn signal LED's in them for the driver to see instead of in the dash.
More HP would always be a plus but don't do it at a sacrifice to the manual tranny. A boost guage in the instrument panel if SC or turbo'd
I have two of your children in my garage. Love the SRT but the manual tranny in the roadster is still my favorite to drive daily. This, even though it is relatively underpowered.
That said, a smaller, less gas guzzling six wouldn't be a bad "option" if it was spunky with enough torque like the 3.2 in the current model.
A really Bad @ss coupe with obscene power for the serious driver and a gentler sporty roadster, with a mizerly six, for the excecutive assistant.
Might sell a few of those.
