Crossfire 2.0
Man, what a great design!! You definately have improved on what I saw as a pretty perfect design. This does explain your profession, definately well deserved. If only you could get that to someone that could do something with it.
Not sure what your involvement was with the Genesis Coupe, but I'm a fan, good job!

Saw some video on the web. Googled Genesis Coupe and went for a nice ride.

Thanks for your contributions to a classic car, Eric. The Crossfire is like nothing else on the road!
As to your ideas for the 'next generation rocket mobile' I STILL love the looks of the Firepower and the Audi R8 comes close.
That long hood suggests like maybe it's got a V12 under there somewhere, the low-to-the-ground look bespeaks of a car that can glue itself to the road.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of sharp, angular lines on any car. Everytime I see some, and I know this is just me, I think of Cadillac fins.

I've always wanted to see the next Crossfire get more muscular, more powerful...Perhaps it could be built on a shortened 300c/Challenger platform with a 500hp supercharged Hemi V8!
Any ideas guys? ...Let's design Xfire2.0 together! It would be a great way to spend your taxpayer dollars

In a way I'm glad that there was only one version of the Xfire because my car will always be the most recent!
P.S. I see a little nod to the Xfire in the Genesis coupe by the way. That crossing feature is noticeable on the door/fender area. :-)
Nice to meet you Eric

Interesting you noticed the similarities of the Xfire and the Genesis Coupe...in many ways they are alike.
Allright guys, I'm getting some great feedback about what Xfire 2.0 should be. Some of you liked the idea of putting it on the LX platform, but more of you seem to like the idea of keeping it light and nimble, dare I say Vette-like? We should definitely keep it cab-rearward and even enhance the long hood.
Since the Daimler merger is dead, maybe there's a chassis we could pull out of the Fiat/Alfa/Maserati stable! Any ideas?
Another possibility is to take advantage of Chrysler's upcoming deal (Dodge EV) with Lotus and build a mid-engined super-hybrid...
All of course using your taxpayer dollars...

i am intrigued by the proposition of fiat/alfa/maserati...but would the pricing and market segments be affected by the branding those names bring as baggage to any car. While money is not the #1 issue, seeing 2.0 flourish in ways that D/C failed in marketing would be a hot topic and a sense of pride i'm sure to any/all involved as well as all the 1.0 owners who know the awesomeness of the car.
does anyone have a napkin, i just drooled a bit over the thought of a mid-engine crossfire.
I agree.
Mid-engine would be awesome.
I've owned an MR2 and driven an NSX, and loved the handling of these light mid-engine cars.
. . . then again, I really feel that I have a good chance in a wreck with the 1.0, and would hate to loose that.
I do love that batmobile look that you have captured in the 2.0.
Thanks for posting, Eric, it's an honor to have the designer of my favorite material possession on this forum.

Wouldn't that eliminate the concept of light and nimble?
On the other hand, an EV that is truly fast and nimble would bust the marketing barrier that all electrics and hybrids have to be clunky. Or look
efficient.
That said, Concept is one thing, Engineering is something else.

Eric, if you can get something like this down to a more reasonable price, you'd have a gold mine:

I really love the idea of a solar roof for a hybrid.
Efficiency and marketing can both agree on this one.
Perhaps the battery weight disadvantage could be turned to an advantage by making it double as a flywheel.
Use the mech energy of the flywheel for short term efficient storage and the btty for longer term storage.
(and if developed this technology would eliminate the need for kickstands.

Really spendy though.
Very Nice Eric..........The sketches are right on point. I envision the "X2F", dont use that I've coined/penned it", with the 425 Hemi and the S550 six speed transmission. That was before the dissolving of D/C. I would love to see more legroom but not cab forward design. I believe the two-seat format is a keeping just provide more bulkhead distance/range. I think a re-figured, sportscar body would fit nice on the Charger, Challenger or 300 platform. I have a few other ideas that I'd rather not divulge publicly. But send me a PM and we'll talk. Hey are you planning to make SEMA this year? LMK, thanks again for your continued dedication to the best damn american neo-sports car. Cya Chas

Something I have noticed in your concept drawings. You have a triangular shaped "something" at the center bottom of the windshield. I like it but it never seems to make it into production vehicles.
What is it? Style piece or some functional device?

Funny, I read stuff about using flywheels for energy "storage" for years now. I've always thought there was some potential there.
Eric I'm curious about something. Did Chrysler come to you for 1.0 and say design us a Crossfire or was the design something you took to them? I'm assuming you were part of their design team and I was just wondering the sequence of events that brought us the Crossfire. I have to tell you I have owned a lot of nice cars, an early z-28, a Corvette and numerous Z-cars and the Crossfire is the "keeper". This car is amazing.
Thank you!
Thank you!
