Default Wrecked Crossfire - this sucks

A knucklehead hit me from behind while I was stopped today. Bumper to bumper hit in the back so there was no damage there, but he pushed me into the Durango in front of me. The receiver from the trailer hitch came through the grill. Hood and core support are trashed.

Actually, a quick bolt on fix, if the parts are available. There doesn't appear to be any damage beyond that (well, the hood latch is probably fried too), but I'll let the body shop figure it out when they do the tear down.

Hopefully I'll get it back pretty quick. This little Hyundai rental is not very exciting to drive.

Sorry to hear that about your car. Mine's still in storage, and every year it seems as though the chances of something happening to it increases.
I hope they find the parts to fix it quickly. Good Luck

Brace yourself for an insurance write-off (i.e. totaled). If that does happen, think of this as an opportunity to start fresh, either with another XFire or another vehicle you have been eyeing. At least you weren't hurt. Tough little cars.

Sorry to hear, hope everything works out for you. Remember, insurance companies aren't your friend so take advantage of whatever you can get.

Sorry to hear that, I can understand your pain as I have lost one as well.

I am only over in Indianapolis and will very soon have a stock hood available for sale, if that helps, shoot me a PM.

That stinks. I hope you and the car come out all right. It also validates what I tell my kids constantly - leave a car length in front of you when stopping at a light or stop sign. It may save your front end.

If they total it, I will definitely buy it back and fix it myself. I've already located the parts, and I can paint it. I prefer though, the shop fix it and I keep it without a salvage title. I can help them get the parts.

That's great you have the bandwidth and know-how to pull that off. Keep us posted on how things progress.

Wow, sorry to hear about that and am glad you are ok. Sounds like the damage isn't too bad, so it shouldn't be near totaled, unless they find frame damage, which hopefully there isn't. So was the person behind you on the cell phone or texting? My wife has been hit in the rea and so have I in different cars and both times a young woman was on the phone, no not the same one. LOL! Good luck with everything.

Sorry to hear of the run in. You might be surprised how well the Insurance company takes care of you if you've been a good customer for quite a while. Mine took GREAT ( I mean GREAT) care of me and never raised my rates. Who knew? Hope it goes well for you.

Sorry of the rear end crash. My wife in our marraige is always meeting people this way. So much in her history she stays back of cars in front of her at stop lights etc. Most of the time the "knuckleheads" don't have insurance or are another DUI problem. Please let us know how you and the "Knuclehead" insurance companies help you out. I hope you don't need a lawyer?

KJ

I'm fairly certain they were rolling a joint.
