In you trip meter lcd display is there a small km or mi beside the numbers. Asking because if a scan tool was used to change the display from metric I would think mi should be showing.
I'm glad to hear that you're from Ottawa - I'm just outside in Richmond. This is a really good group and we'll help you all that we can. I'm licensed with OMVIC & have friends in the auto sales and service business. We'll help you any way that we can. We also have some pretty good get togethers from time to time. There are not many of us in this end of the province.
You say that all vehicle summary is in Canada, but what does your bill of sale say about mileage? Is it listed in km's? Send me a pm & we'll have a look at what's happening with your car.

ill post a pick tonight.
That is just damn nuts. Have you heard back from the dealer? Are you the second owner of the car?

originally when i first noticed the issue i thought i was getting the worlds worst gas mileage (250 km per tank), or maybe i had a gas leak. then i read in the forum people are getting 400 km, i converted my 250 km to to km and basically got 400 so then i started my highway marker test and found the odometer/trip meter issue.
i am the third owner (excluding dealerships) and i have not heard from them since last night when i had to explain everything to them again. we will see where this day takes me. im giving them till noon then ill email them again. trying to get them to resolve it peacefully before i play hardball.
Who knows maybe it has been like that since day one. No one even noticed. Then again maybe a gremlin got in there and messed everything up
so the original dealer asked i go to a Chrysler dealer "to verify" my findings. so i did. they found it was set for imperial and daytime running lights disabled. they corrected these and here is my new odometer picture.
So now, you've bought a car that you were told had 57,000 KMs which really has 93,000 kms.
What are you going to do about it? Take it back ask for a refund? Keep it and ask for CASH and lots of it?

not sure what type of dollar figure i should consider a worth while amount though.
$4000 i would definitely think fair but i highly doubt they will offer that.
well see. all speculation at this point. for all i know they may just say too bad so sad.
i would hope any reputable responsible dealer would not take this stance though especially since this is fraud.
Try to find out if the selling dealer is a member of the U.C.D.A. (Used Car Dealers Association) UCDA Home Page or even better T.A.D.A (Toronto Automobile Dealers Association) Trillium Automobile Dealers Association - Welcome to TADA
Look for info on what protection you may have if the dealer is a member of one of these associations. Do your homework prior to making demands at the dealer but also call the Associations first.
Good luck.

Looks like one of the previous owners made some changes. Glad you got it fixed. Now for some compensation. Keep us informed and enjoy the car. Post some pictures of your new ride.
I met with Jeff today and we quickly looked over his car - it's a very nice and well looked after red coupe that doesn't look like it's ever been winter driven or abused. The mileage is a surprise but doesn't look like it will hurt anything. And the car was purchased well. There is still a matter of compensation for the error, or the car may be returned, but if kept there shouldn't be cause for a quality concern.
Best to you on it Jeff. If you pm me your email address I'll keep you up to date on any short notice cruises.

Well the saga continues. original dealer is suppose to be getting back to me next Monday as manager is on vacation, seems like the runaround but ill give them the benefit of the doubt till then.
also since the Chrysler dealer set my gauges to metric on friday i just noticed my gear indicator display now does nothing.
i saw one person with a automatic having this issue in the forum but it did not have a resolution.
i can only assume that when they said my daytime running lights were disabled in the software maybe they flicked the wrong electronic switch since i am pretty sure my daytime running lights were working before?
back to the dealer tomorrow at lunch. sigh.

When you start your car and/or put it in Drive are there any lights automatically turned on with the headlight switch left in the off position?
and they behaved the same before the dealer who fixed the odometer said they were turned off in the software.
makes me suspect they turned off gear indicator when they thought they were enabling daytime running lights.
not sure why the computer would even allow them to disable the gear indicator? why would you ever want it off?
Hi, yes the outer edge headlights are on when i start the car and i am in park and also on when i put it in drive with the headlight switch in the off position.

They've buggered up something for your gear indicator to not display.
Good luck.
thank you for your help SparkieSRT6, you were correct, went back to the local chrysler dealer on friday who changed my miles to KM setting, when the tech thought he was "turning on daytime running lights" in the computer he was in fact disabling my gear indicator. not sure how they were confused with each other but as soon as he undid that change he had made my gear indicator was back. thanks again for your help. BTW i am suppose to hear from the original dealer today regarding the misrepresented odometer so i will keep y'all posted.
thanks.
thanks.
