High Pitched Squeak In Reverse
I have a 2004 Limited with an auto trans, about 77,000 on the clock. When I reverse the car has a horribly shrill squeak coming from the rear of the car or underneath the cab. The car only makes the sound in reverse, only when the brakes are off, and doesn’t seem to have a problem when the wheel is turned. The noise only seems to happen when I first get the car in morning too, by the time I drive to work and throw it into reverse to park, there is no sound. Brakes are fine, fluid levels are perfect, and I haven’t found an answer by searching the forum. Anyone have any thoughts or the same problem?

IMO, Pads! You could jack one wheel at a time and spin to find the culprit. If your pads are still good, you can retaper their leading and trailing edges and remount with harmonic suppressing compound
I had this problem with my standard XF.
I had put "Red Stuff" pads on it & they squeeked like hell when bedded in.....
Do as our friend says below..... put a dob of anti squeel compound between the piston and the pad & between the caliper face & pad, + de-burr the edges of the pads by trimming the sharp 90' edges off the pads too.
NOTE, do NOT get grease or finger marks on the friction faces, and ensure you put the pads back in the same places they each came from.
Ensure the disks are grime and finger mark / grease free before re-fitting the pads too.
This should solve the problem.
