A little help,, New Crossfire owner.
Hey guys I just purchased a 2005 Crossfire last week and I have a couple questions you may be able to help me with .
The car has an aftermarket accelerator modification, sensitive pedal and a three stage toggle, normal sport and race. I am having trouble finding the right rpm to shift in first an second.
I don't want to burn out the clutch, I don't ride it at all it just seems to red line fast and doesn't shift as smooth as I would like without kind of chugging along or when i shift up and release the clutch the rear end kind of clunks sometimes. I guess I'm not matching the speed to the revs . I have had the car for a week and getting better but am still having a little trouble , stalling once in awhile .
The car has 27000 km on it and have most records . clutch is stiff an smooth . No real problems,,,, just the driver haha.
I'm just trying to get infer on best speed , rev to shift so I don't damage anything . Its been awhile since I have had a standard car,,, truck no problem. First just seems like low gear in a 4x4 truck .

It sounds like you have Sprint Booster, adjustable. They are removable if you don't like it. Try it without it. It plugs in at the throttle pedal position sensor. All it does really is tell the ECU that your foot is heavier on the gas pedal than you really are.
You may like it better without the device until you get used to the car.

I have an auto, but can say that if I put it in first gear, then floor it, the computer will change gears at about 5000 rpm .....

Sprint booster, yeah I think thats what the previous owner said it was as well. As for any clunking sound I only seem to get it when letting off the gas shifting into second, rarely third. I shift in first around 2000, second about 2500-3000, Booster off it does it as well. This is a new learning curve with this car for me.
it also has a reprogrammed ECM, I'm still learning about the car.
Klunk is only when I shift up then depress the clutch maybe a bit fast, though I don't want to ride it . Its more sensitive to grab then I am used to. That and maybe not enough gas. little aggravating in stop an go traffic in the city .

Since I made that post, we've found out that the Crossfire's ESP will not recognize a differential swap.
As you concluded, the more you drive your car, the smoother you will get at the dreaded 1-2 shift. For some reason, most people think it shifts smoother when driven more aggressivly, rather than Granny shifting it.
Even though I've been driving my car for 7.5 years, I still occasionally make the differential clunk when shifting. But that probably says more about my lack of skill, than the cars transmission.

I do have a (older version) sprint booster and I love it.
Mine is not selectable so it just always in sport mode.
My next Crossfire WILL be a manual though

Well, poor shifting or not.....a clunk can sometimes be something going wrong. U-Joints, shock towers have been known to crack and tear away from the body of the car, and motor mounts are notorious of failing as well. So, don't ignore it, but it may just be poor shifting. Or, it may be one of the more serious problems I just mentioned. If you aren't good with mechanicals, then write the above down, and have a mechanic you trust check them.

Try shifting around 4000 RPM, seems to match up better, at least for me it does....

When i got my Crossy a few months ago, i found she wanted to climb the revs fast and i ran out of revs very quickly in 1st n 2nd......
At the end of the day YOU control the gas pedal....
Find a bit of quiet road, and try going gentle... as if youre driving your granny....
1st to 2nd is generally notchy witb these machines.... I ASKED THE SAME QUESTIONS as you too....
I found.... go gentle as you get used to her, let the revs drop b4 2nd gear and dont rush the box....
You have a fabulous machine now, and she will drive beautifully when driven sedately and still impress you. i want my g-box to last and take the changes slowly..... but climb the revs fast...you'll get used to her...... once the clutch is up and youre in 3rd.... you can plant the gas pedal as hard as you like and have enough time between gears.
Even going up the revs slowly, you will still accelerate like a bat out of hell....
You got a Super-Car now and the acceleration to match......

These cars are DEFINITLY meant to be DRIVEN. I test drove a stick and didn't like it, bought an auto.
It was much later that I realized that shifting much below 3000 took practice to do smoothly.... but 3500 or 4000 was a breeze.
In my TEST I was shifting at 2000 - you can be smooth at those RPMs but is seems like it takes practice to do so.
Again, this car was designed to be DRIVEN. But Oldoc has a point, might be time to get it looked at... or bring it to a GTG and let the rest of
