rarest color combo
Re: rarest color combo
Chris L, those are two nice and seldom seen exterior colors. My son does have a 2007 Machine Gray coupe and I tried to convince him to buy a matching roadster (70k miles, used, for about $15k, two years ago) but he has no room or time for two cars. I wish I had bought it.
Re: rarest color combo
Gold is kinda rare -- and it looks really good in person. One of our club members has a gold roadster.
Yellow is rare - expecially with the white/black interior -- but I'm not a big fan of the yellow.
Silver is pretty rare and it looks awesome. The silver allows for most of the color combos to look good, unlike many of the cars which have IMHO - mismatched exterior / interior colors. Gold exterior with red interior is........we'll, I'm not a fan (no offense - just personal taste). Many other colors and combos don't work either.
Machine grey is awesome, very rare and if I could find a reasonable price on one with the oyster interior......we'll, I'd probably have to buy it.
Red isn't that rare, but a red roadster with the oyster interior is my target second XFire. I think it is a great combo.
Aero blue has grown on me and either the oyster, black or grey / or combo grey is great in this car. I didn't like it at first, but I'd consider buying one in this color now.
Oyster White - not so rare but look great when clean. Almost any color combo interior works well.
Not rare are the SSB's (my color) but I happen to love it's camelian look as it changes in different light - direct sun, evening, inside a garage, etc. Also, a classy interior if it's the slate / blue (my color). I don't like the red or straight grey or black nearly as much.
Black isnt' rare and while I love the car in black, I've had black cars before and it's great clean, bad dirty -- which means even more washing that I do now (which is alot). I like clean cars.
Eitherway, I'd take any of them because I love these cars.

Re: rarest color combo
Gold works on the XF because its has a strong flake and of course is in the metallic color family which lends itself so well to the shape of the car. Makes it look like a bullet.
I live in the 'land of Crossfires' (FL) and see 2 or 3 every day on my commute...I've never seen another Oyster Gold version.

Re: rarest color combo
The colors are close. In fact, I've had websites for paint color to repair dings, road rash , etc. claim initially that the color codes are the same. I've had to send specific color tints for Machine Gray so they mix the correct paint. Close inspection will show that the Machine Gray has a "bluing" metal-flake effect, sort of like the color of fresh steel. The Graphite Gray doesn't have this effect.

Re: rarest color combo
rarest color combo IMHO is machine grey with salmon seats.
I've only seen one
Re: rarest color combo
Can't recall ever seeing a Machine Gray XFire with the Dark Gray/Canyon Red interior. That would be rare. Might have been a 2008 model since Chrysler was installing the "salmon" 2-tone interior in a lot of the cars produced near the end of production.
For me, the rarest color combo I saw was an Oyster Gold Roadster with the Tuxedo (Dark Gray / Cool Vanilla) leather interior. I've only see one and it was during the original CAA event held in St Louis. Car was absolutely beautiful! Frank - Do you remember who owned that car? I recall he was member of the St Louis owners group.

Re: rarest color combo
The interesting thing about the Classic Yellow versions was it is the only exterior color that was offered only on the Limited Roadster Crossfire. All the other colors were offered on both Coupes & Roadsters.
Re: rarest color combo
Perhaps I am mistaken about the term Machine grey.
There was a color one might call "gun metal blue." Like machine grey but with a blue tone. It was to that color I was referring. My body guy tells me it takes six layers of different paints to achieve.
Yes we do have a St Louis member with a gold roadster and Tuxedo seats. Susan and Mike. Their last names escape me.
