Resetting service odometer
Re: Resetting service odometer
Good luck, and it takes some luck. Once I got it on the first try. Other times it has taken 50 tries over 2 weeks. I think it has a lot to do with how clean the switch contacts are. If it is hard to get the trip odometer to reset, it is impossible to get the service warning to reset. I found it helps to hold the switch in and rotate back and forth many times, dash dimmer rotation, just to clean the contacts a little before trying the service reset. Also makes the trip reset easier.

Make sure when you do the reset procedure that you turn the key to the on position, not the accessory position.
From the owner manual:
1. Turn key to the ON/RUN position.
2. Within one second press the reset button (22) twice.
3. The present status for days or distance is displayed.
Within 10 seconds turn the key to OFF/
LOCK.
4. Press and hold the reset button (22), while turning
the key to ON/RUN again. The present status for
days or distance is displayed once more. Continue
to hold the reset button(22).
After approximately 10 seconds, a signal sounds and
the display shows 7,000 miles (Canada: 11,000 km) for
approximately 10 seconds.
5. Release the reset button (22).2.
Continue

Re: Resetting service odometer
Did mine today on the first try. I was amazed.
1. Pushed and held the switch in while turning back and forth about ten time to clean the contacts.
2. Turn the key to on and waited about two seconds for the computer to boot.
3. Pushed the switch twice quickly. Service mileage popped up.
4. Turned the key off.
5. Held in the switch while turning the key back on and 7000 miles to go.
I think the key is to have clean contacts and hit it twice quickly, but not in the first second.
