Well, first of all, I dont know if this is a known method. I just decided to give it a shot and it worked like champ.

Factory brakepads suck when it comes to brake dust and if you dont clean them long enough, the brakedust get stuck to your wheels and PITA to remove.

due to work training, the car sat for 4 months and the wheels got kind of ruined. I couldnt get rid of the corrosion with the traditional cleaning. I tried so hard but only some came off.. So I gave up....

Until today. I decided to clay the damn wheels and holy cow. I wouldnt even put any pressure on the wheels and any corrosion, dirt, etc. came right off and wheels look like brand new. This is with clay spray (it looks like water to me) and a clay bar.

Here is a pic of my wheel after the traditional cleaning:

I know, it looks like I didnt really clean it, but I wiped it with a cleaner, etc. that was pretty much the best i could do.kit would fog up for some reason. I am sure with a little more elbow grease, I could take more out, give it more shine, but definitely not much more.

here is a quick shot of after the clay bar:

P.S. I am not even done with them. once I am done with wiping them with microfiber towel, they should shine and smoothen more.

Again, not sure if it is a known technic, but i figured I would share with

I also tried it on the crossfire, which are ALLOY and have NOT been cleaned for 6 months or more (I had been away and she doesnt care. she just puts the car through a car wash every week). Everytime i attempt to clean her wheels, i only get some of it out due to factory brake pads. If i wanted to get it all out, it would be a project. I did this in the dark, on my driveway.

I am amazed how well claybar works! WOW! this is under 60 seconds job. Check it out:

Before ( the darker areas are on the wheels like glue ):

After (I even went a little inside the wheel to see if it would take it off and holy cow, it took most of it out and I think i rubbed there once or twice) :

Nice to see you posting again. I hope all is going well with your LEO Training.
Get some new dustless brake pads as soon as you can. I drove 30k on mine before I changed all 4 wheels pad, and I could have kicked myself for not doing it sooner.

Hey thank you. Training is pretty much done and I have been on the streets for over 4 months now.

I am looking for a set of brake pads and rotors for the crossfire. i will soon replace them totally.

What is happening on the 22nd?

And, yeah i kind of got away from the site, but I still have the xfire and will be posting / attending to meets again. I can honestly blame some of it to my busy work training in the last 9 months.
