Default Heater Blower out Not looking forward to this...

I am not looking forward to replacing this fan unit.

Crumpy heard it grinding for a few days. Then nada.......

I have owned 8 Benz cars. This makes number seven having this same problem.
My roadster is next?

Best engineered cars in the world but they cannot instal a reliable heater fan.

'95 Dodge truck has 260K
2000 Minivanhas 240K
'75Olds Starfire had 220K
'96 Jeep has 130K
'95 LHS has 240K

All have working fans.
Not one Benz has made it past 100K without this failure.

Que Pasa?

Franc,

Are you sure it was not some debris that got into the unit? I had some awful noise from mine, turned out to be a leaf and a twig, but I thought the thing was toast, works perfect now.

Best of luck.

Thanksfor the responses guys.

I have so much on my plate, the project will have to wait a week or two to get at it.

No heat, no cooling inside the car.

No defrost/defogging on the windsheild, which is really an issue in these coupes.

MRMOPAR, thanks for the offer. let me see what I have to fix.

Franc... this is why I bought the extended warranty on my crossfire. The first warranty ran out after 6 years and I just purchased another through Chrysler for an extra 5 years.

This is why I am looking towards Japanese as my next car (toyota, Honda or Nissan). Was pressured to look at other German brands. I know they are great cars and engineered well... but tired of the dumb stuff breaking. Tired of headaches. Just give me a quiet Toyota that will give me 200K+ miles without something stupid breaking. A common car that can be fixed anywhere! I will keep the crossfire in the garage and enjoy it... but Japanese cars for me now as a daily driver.

Can you imagine the niggling little things that go wrong on the really expensive cars, the repair of which would put most of us in the poor house.

Toyotas are OK and reasonably cheap to get fixed anywhere but those Bentleys and such are black holes for money.

I have that problem, sometimes no one sees the hidden joke. The joke is too deep maybe and they take what is said at face value.
I worked with a German woman at one time and after she felt insulted by me a few times I told her I would have to teach her about English humor. While a German friend roared with laughter at Monty Python and acted out their skits laughing like a maniac.

What was this thread about anyway. LOL

I bought Crumpys'sSRT-6 used and the warranty has run out.

My vert has an extended warranty. The fan there works fine but, it is patiently waiting until said warranty expires.

I see a simple solution, switch the motors in the cars and get it fixed for free under warranty.

Mine wasn't working reliably on our trip (CAA2) to Calif. last year. We ended up removing the lower panels and tapping on the blower motor shaft every time we wanted it to work. Still working today, put the panels back on. Every once in a while it will speed up and down on it's own, I suppose it will croak one day though.

heater just quit working. Need to replace either the blower motor or resistor, both of which are 200 plus even on ebay. Will the SLK 320 blower and resistor fit? They are easy to find and cheap on ebay.
