Fuel consumption (again!!)
well after my little Euro-trip I did a swift calculation of my total fuel consumption and had a (to me!) reasonably pleasant surprise...
average over 2,518 miles was roughly 27mpg (that is UK gallons) which when I consider the cruises @ 95-125mph for prolonged periods as well as quite a bit of town driving not to mention some STEEP mountain passes (Furka Pass is 8,000 feet
).
there were a couple of points where I'd guestimated the mpgs as being between 32-36 (in France averaging 75/80 for a few hundred miles) but obviously that does mean that some of the town driving and higher speed stuff was, shall we say, a little scary!!

Are you on Imperial gallons which = 153.7 oz (versus the us 128 oz)?? If so, then the 22-23 US mpg is about right for that fun speed you be driving at. If you could keep it around 100-110 kph, you would be seeing ~35 mpig.
Indeed I am on the Impy gallons... I will try next April to keep speeds at roughly 70/80mph and see how much difference there is. I know that the pass climbs and towns though REALLY hurt
