Getting new spark plugs? Which should i go for?
so i had my baby for almost a year now, and boy are these cars reliable as hell! I've had no major problems, but with the season now changing. I was thinking of doing stuff to keep it running good in the winter such as: tune up's, new air filters, cabin air filters, brake change (maybe new rotars), and a new set of winter tires. First off, I've been doing some research on the NGK Iridium IX Spark Plugs here on the forum, but if i were to get them wouldn't i need new spark plugs cables also? Or could i use the existing ones that i have on the engine? Also, What kind of tires would you recommend me that are good in the winter and/or that have good grip and tread life?
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
Rob at NeedsWings is your friend. Plugs and wires are what I'd recommend if you're due. One or the other and you're just cheating. Get a set of stock heat range plugs unless you're going crazy with the power adders then go a heat range colder. Also look into a set of Magnacore wires. They're better wires and they cost about the same as OE replacements plus they'll add a little color to the engine compartment.
Plugs - NGK Laser Iridium Spark Plug Set, Stock Heat range
Wires - Magnecor KV85 8.5mm Competition Ignition Cables
It looks like he's running a sale so you can pick everything up for about $250 which is just a little more that what the wires alone would cost from the dealership.

after reading about rob and needswings here i went to him.
told him what i was doing in mods now and asked for his advice.
bought his ngk plugs, which were a h... of alot cheaper than anywhere else and his wires.
mpg was up appx 10% and the get-up-and-go also.
have fun doing the job.
