Battery Tenders
I have been yelling that they make a big difference, I get mine on ebay and walmart, they are about 20 - 25$. TENDERS, NOT CHARGERS. You want a regulated trickel charger, not a battery charger that can over - boil- dryout the battery over the winter.
Just put a 5watt solar panel on my trailer as it is far from outlets, and not Iam saving that battery also. EBAY cost 23$ shipped, nice.
Enjoy, Woody

Do you even want to go there..... We did away with that thread for a reason... So I won't go postal... abide by it...
I came along after the locked doors on the thread..
but read enough post apocalypse to know better...
Okay shoot me.. But if Iran wants nukes.. I'm game to give them some.. LOL
BatteryMINDer Plus 12 Volt 1.3 Amp Battery Charger: BatteryMart.com
This one has served me well for a few years now. I like the quick disconnect attachments it comes with. One is permanently attached to the car batt.(ring terminal), and the other w/ alligator clips gets rotated to our other various batteries. The quick connects have caps that cover the connection when not in use. Very convenient. Five yr. warranty IIRC. I'll be buying a second one for the ride mower soon.

I don't want to read political stuff here!
I was following This thread
to read about BATTERY TENDERS!
Come on!
You mis understood me.. that way maybe they can develop stand alone battery tenders.. nuclear powered..
I use the Griots Garage Battery Manager IV.
Battery Manager IV - Battery Care - Car Maintenance - Griot's Garage
The advanced, microprocessor controlled, quadphase charging process ensures you don't have to worry about a thing. It even has an automatic "desulphation mode" that sends an electrical pulse to help revive sulphated batteries that are dying! Performs its magic on any 12-volt or 6-volt battery, including standard lead-acid and AGM batteries used in motorcycles and boats. There are three ways you can connect the manager to your battery, all included: simple alligator clips, permanent rings, or cigarette lighter adapter, all with a quick disconnect plug. We also include an adaptor for use with the previous barrel-plug style connector so you can upgrade without having to change your current setup if you already own one of our battery managers! This is not the typical "trickle charger" you've seen elsewhere. For safety, a built in electrical detector prevents sparking and the error light glows if the polarity is crossed. This device is designed with modern integrated circuitry to keep batteries at full charge without overcharging or boiling out battery fluids

I have 4 Harbor Freights (three for cars, one for the Goldwing itself) and have had no issues in 4 years. Originally battery on 2003 Audi and both Crossfires, which are garaged all winter.
80 bucks plus shipping for a 'battery tender'? Poking holes in sulfated plates? I don't think so... I'm with goldwing... Not to offend anyones preferences in their care and dilligence but the Mrs and I have been using the same wet cell (275cca) for the lawn tractor for 5 seasons (thats years). We disconnect it after the season and bring it inside. Charge it fully every three months with a real old 12 volt charger rated at 1 amp (don't know how old it is it still works). Its still going strong and we're about to do the same thing again. Only thing we do is make sure the terminals are clean when we reinstall it the coming season. I can't tell you how many neighbors replace their tractor batteries every year to three, its just crazy to keep replacing em when a little PM stretches out the life so much (without all that new-fangled electronics in the 'tenders'). I clean the terminals occasionally on my driving vehicles, especially if I work on something that requires removal of the neg cable (I also remove the Pos cable in case a tool or something grounds out the neg post on anything metal). A quick swipe of the terminal cleaner 'refreshes' the connection and away I go! Wet cell Batteries are about the same as they have been for decades. Mostly the packaging, advertising, and owners care changes. In the end, actually, its whatever 'floats your boat'...
