Crossfire is my first 2-seater toy indulgence
Other car is a black '03 PT Cruiser Turbo with a bunch of go-fast toys installed.
Wife has an '06 vanilla PT Cruiser
My driveway is starting to look like the used lot at a Chrysler dealer! Can't say I'm a huge Chrysler fan, but they have made a couple of cool cars recently.

That made me laugh.
It reminded me of the Beatles song......... "will you still need me.... will you still feed me..."
At 55, I can now order from the senior menu I think. Damn it.

At Denny's anyway.

[quote=lildaddym;706173]I had the first generation. I had a 300ZX Turbo at the time but my wife bought my dad's 924. I drove it for a while while the Z was torn down. It handled superbly and was more comfortable than my SRT6. It was however, a little lacking in power.. and your 944 had way cooler fenders.

Yeah...those fenders came from the 924 Carrera, made about 1980 or so...that Audi motor in the first gen 924 was definitely lacking on power. The 944's motor was basically half of the 928's...ran a lot better. A bit of trivia: The 944 had balance shaft technology licensed from Mitsubishi...

I'm actually a little younger than 101. I bought a Porsche 928S4 when I was 24. I've been going through a mid-life crisis ever since. After the Porsche I owned:
- '00 Durango - Supecharged 408" stroker - daily driver
- '02 Axiom - Supercharged - daily driver
- '06 Jeep SRT8 - 800HP Beast - daily driver
Currently daily driving the Crossfire, even in the snow.

The 944 like the 65 Corvair, could hold it's own, style wise, in today's world. The pop up headlights would be the only thing that would appear dated. I always fantasized about dropping a 500 c.i. Eldorado motor in the back of that thing. Thanks for the trivia (good information). I considered a Boxster, a Z, and a Mustang before my Crossfire purchase. It was the uniqueness of the Xfire that won me over. Less than a thousand of the SRT 6 roadsters were produced. It has all the earmarks of a collector car. I'll be dead by the time it is, but I like knowing that. Have a great day.

There are a number of interesting trivia pieces about the 944 series in general...I was one of the fanatics that had his VIN memorized, if that tells you anything...Couldn't agree more about the styling...wish I still had one! We talked about the Boxster and the Saturn Sky/Pontiac Solstice, but neither had enough trunk space for us to carry the work equipment. Kinda tripped over the Crossfire about 15 minutes from the house in a used car lot...

I hear you...after the Porsche, I drove (not necessarily owned) a Pontiac Sunbird, a Honda Civic, a Mazda 626 sedan (bad tranny), an Oldsmoblie 88 Royale, an old Thunderbird turbo, a Honda Prelude, a Chevy Astro, two Saturn SC1s, sedan and coupe, a Sebring convertible, then the Crossfire, our daily driver...I may have missed a vehicle or two... LOL
The Eldorado. Amazing cars (along with the Toronado) for their day...
Memorized the VIN? Yeh, that's fanatical. My dad (also a car guy) once told me that I was going to wax the paint off my Alfa Romeo. Yeh, I'm a little fanatical too. I put my new Norton together in my apartment from the crate and fired it up at two in the morning. Rebuilt a transmission in my kitchen. My 2nd wife was appalled. We are sick puppies.
I wish that I still had my Norton. While my Vmax is way faster, it is also way heavier. Mr. Max just isn't a city bike by the time you're on the cam you're way over the speed limit and my Super Trapps tell every cop in the vicinity, not that those reverse cones on my Commando S weren't screaming loud too. The Vmax is great on mountain roads, but stop light to stop light no way. Just too heavy. I did engine mods on the Norton, I did handling mods on the Vmax. I also had a Royal Enfield that said Indian on it and my first bike, an Ariel 500 thumper (Red Hunter). Sometime before I die, I wouldn't mind a Harley (Hardly Abelson).

My name is Michael, and I'm a car-a-holic...LOL
