Default Newbie Needs Help

Well hello everyone, I am not only new to this forum but I have owned my Xfire for three days. So, I got a couple of questions. First, I love this forum. For the first 2 days I have just been reading all of the posts. I have gotten thru 32 pages of posts and have learned a lot so far. But here are a couple of questions I have so far:

1. On this forum when I open someone's thread I have the latest post first and then I have to go all the way to the bottom to read the first post and then read backwards. How can I get the first post to be listed at the top when I open a thread. the way it is set up now it is quite annoying, especially if there are a lot of pages.

2. I really like the chrome/mesh front grilles I have been seeing on some cars. Who makes the best looking and quality one. I really want to purchase one.

3. I have an automatic. Next to the shifter where it reads Park, neutral, Drive, etc, there is a toggle switch that has a W and S. Can someone tell me what that is for. The manual I looked at is only for a manual and so it does not cover that switch

Thanks all

Welcome to the forum!

The S/W switch is for summer, winter settings. In the W setting the XF starts off in 2nd gear. Didn't know we have a manual only book. Look again.

I have a stock grill.

If you click on the title of the link you will get the first post. There is a last post link. Or check the settings of the forum program somewhere
Drive safe!

First of all Welcome to the forum !!

1) Click on "userCP" upper left side of the screen
scroll down and click "edit options"
scroll down to "Thread Display Options "
choose "oldest first" than scroll down and click "save"

2) use "search" and type 'grills' to see threads related to all aftermarket grilles

3) W= Winter/ Wet mode - eliminates the 1rst gear when starting from a stop
....S= Summer mode - use this in most all driving conditions

Hmmmmm, I thought the W/S description was in all manuals. See pages 140-141, my car is a 6 speed stick and even my manual has the description - just like your manual tells you how to use the clutch and manual transmission - even tho you are deprived of the third pedal.

I had NO IDEA we could cause the threads to display last post first.... now THERE is news I can use!

That's ok. I once showed up here (after owning the car for two years) asking about the Homelink, turns out even it is described rather well in the manual.....

You know, after tracking down the central locking module a while ago and cutting up that foam insert in the belly of the rear hatch, right side, I wonder... If both of those foam inserts are removed, will any size tire/rim fit down there in that cavity? Maybe its time to ask MrMopar (seeing that he has a few part-outs there to experiment on) if the bay is large enough to fit something in there. I'm not saying a full size 18 or 19, but a temp one just for emergencies. MY GAWD, WHAT A FIND IF IT WOULD WORK? Unless if someone already has tried this. Must say in the 3+ years I've been here, I saw a lot of posts on the issue but never saw one regarding this aspect. Did I just miss it???

It's behind that one thing, you know, under the back.

Welcome to the Forum.

I am going to tag along with Sr. Williams. I too have owned my Crossfire for 3 days. Having owned a Mercedes, I knew the S/W switch. Found the coin holder on my own. Perhaps AAA will take care of the spare for me. I have already encountered the seemingly universal "HI" oil lamp (changing the oil tomorrow, have seen posts suggesting 8 quarts, not 8.5 - any other comments?). My Crossfire will need new tires soon. Any suggestions? This group is already a life saver. Lynn a/k/a Ms883

I drain my oil the old fashion way. From under the car with the car up with the right tilt to get a good drain. I always use 8 1/2 gts. If you use a vacuum pump I don't think you will get it all. Might be why the 8 qts

Agreed.
My brother has a lift, I'm kind of spoiled that way for under car fixes.

1. list your location.
2. update your signature with car info ( year, color, NA / SRT6, coupe / roadster, auto / 6 speed )
