Default i need help

So today I dropped the misses off at work and as I turned on my car a taxi hit me , he knocked the whole mirror off. A police report was filed and apparently he hasn't got the new taxi companies updated insurance info so now there is a court date before the insurance company can file it and pay the damages off

Upon inspection I found the mirror cap itself has been snapped off the mirror itself is cracked and the motor has been detached from inside the mirror cap and at the base

If you look in the middle of this picture , at the base it looks like there's a metal piece surrounding the portion that allows the mirror to move so you can turn the mirror up and out away from traffic , It's hard to see but that metal piece is completely snapped off and from what i tried It's impossible to "snap" the assembly back on like a normal cheap plastic housing

I don't know what to search for to get part prices and all the body shops in my area are closed on Sundays, so could some one tell me the parts to look for and if any one knows tell me how if at all possible how to get the motor back on ? Or atleast how to remove the whole assembly ?

Thanks guys

The door panel has to come off to unplug the wire, no way around it that I know of.

I see 2 listed on Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market that are 'GRY' or 'SILV GRAY'.
These may be graphite and save you the repaint cost.
Each one is $125

I managed to unplug it without removing the complete door panel......I only removed the small access panel. The electrical plug is tie wrapped to the door structure and the rubber grommet can be removed once the mirror mounting bolts are out and the mount is lifted from the door skin.

Turn the mirror perpendicular to the mount and you will see two torx bolts holding the mount on. Remove them and you'll see the wiring going into a hole between the mounting holes. Pull out the rubber grommet the wire goes through. Remove the small access panel on the door panel and clip the tie wraps holding the electrical connector to the door. pull the wire through from the outside and there you have it. Reverse procedure to install the new mirror. Very important: Remove the rubber base gasket from the old mirror and mail it to me.

Maybe I'll mail everything to You for a small fee , since the assembly is technically repairable to someone with the right tools

So isn't your insurance co suppose to fix your car and then get reimbursed by the taxi company? I understand not wanting to drive around with a broken mirror, but I'd be at my body shop having them look for a brand new mirror and getting a paint quote going. Seem like you could end up doing more harm than good to yourself financially. But that's just me spouting off with limited knowledge of your situation. Good luck!

Body shops around my area were closed today being Sunday , and Yes that's how it works when you have full coverage but i have liability so my insurance won't pay me for this atleast that's how I believe it works , either way the taxi company is gonna reimburse me since it was his fault 100% , my car was parked and not even started when it happened
I'll see what happens tomorrow

Can someone tell me how to remove that triangular piece is it held on buy clips or can I just pry it off? I'm worried that prying it off will damage the insulation for the window

You don't need to remove the triangular trim to replace the mirror.

I think the guy wants to fix it himself so he knows it is done right, and some jerk at a body shop doesn't pollute his fine car. The plus is he might get to pocket a couple bucks to buy himself a few beers (or whatever his libations are) and move on.

Ok Guys I need your help again , I got good news and bad
Good news is the taxi company has paid 801$ back in damages , and I already ordered the part and it came in today
Got it for 130$ of eBay
The bad news is after opening it I'm having trouble getting it to rotate to give me access to the top bolts where the old one screws in
Is there any specific way to do this ?
Other bad news is the part is in the blue color but I'm gonna prep it and take it to maaco tomorrow or Thursday any tips on how i should prep it ?

Thanks guys

I'd return it and buy the correct color. If you are determined to keep it and have it painted, let a professional prep it. You could do more harm than good. Also don't install until its painted.

Well after reading reviews of maaco some good and some bad quite a few said It's best to prep yourself before handing your car ( in my case the part) over to them so just a question but not to important
The main question is the swivel , I'm to scared to put my full strength and end up breaking it
Also I didn't trust the other sellers on line that actually had the graphite driver side mirror so i do plan on keeping it and getting it repainted , and i don't plan on doing the install till after It's repainted
