Default CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE ROADSTER STARTECH

Taken from the NEWS OF THE WORLD (Bristish Sunday Newspaper), Motoring Section, Sun 19th September

AIR WE GO! (Headline)

Three new topless models ( Mini Cooper S, Crossfire Roadster Startech, BMW 645ci Convertible)

I'm the first journalist in the world to drive Chrysler's high-performance version of their Crossfire Roadster, launched in July.

The standard Crossfire is already a real eye-catcher but Chrysler tuners Startech have transformed the roadster into a supermodel. They've binned the 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels and given it sexy light alloys.

And, if Porsche Boxster owners have any doubt what's filling their rear view mirrors, they'll be put right by the chrome covering the mirrors, front grille and side vent fins.

But it's not all fast looks. Startech have slotted in a uprated 3.8-litre motor that rockets the Crossfire from 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds, giving it a top speed of 169mph.

Parked on your drive the Crossfire Startech will make the neighbours green with envy. But they won't be quite as jealous if they got behind the wheel. The chassis is based on the old Mercedes SLK, so it doesn't have pin sharp handling of newer rivals. And the clutch is so soft it feels like a budget supermini.

But the 3.8-litre will probably cost around 35,000, 3000 less then the boxster.

The SRT-6 with it's SLK32AMG motor does low 5 second 0-60's. I'd think the Startech 3.8L should do better than 5.9 with it's 300 hp.

Anyone know where you can get those chrome mirrors? I didn't see them on their website, and was wondering if anyone had them or knew where I could get a set?

Just had a quote for a Startech sports backbox for my xfire (Chrysler dealers are selling them).
700+ fitting! are they on drugs?
I could have a bespoke stainless system made for less, shame though, would have bought it if it was nearer the 350-400 mark.

Chrysler dealers are mad in the UK - the prices for all Crossfire extras are astoundingly high.

is it worth the money. The styling bits are up to the person but, lots of money for a a half a second 0-60 time, to me, only gives brag rights. With the new upsolute chip (cost 350.00) this give me all the powe I need.

I too have the chip but, I feel the exhaust note could be a little more aggressive so a quality factory replacement would be perfect but, again not at that silly price, how can that be justified?
