Interesting......
Half those SLKs and TTs must be here in Silicon Valley 'cause I see em all over the place. Ditto the RX8, it's hard to miss with those bugeye front fenders. Not seeing that many new boxsters. Maybe I just don't notice the Honda, I think I've only seen two outside of the dealership.

I think it's important to consider not only total sales, but how many have sold vs. how many have been produced. I think the data reflect sales in the U.S. If you track the sequential VIN numbers of Crossfires you will see that there have been well over 40K units produced. maybe closer to 50K. Roughly 25K 04s were built. Around 16K have been sold in the U.S. since June 03. Maybe 5K (probably fewer) were sold in other countries. The sales numbers include both 04s and 05s. Despite the cheap lease deals, pricing well under invoice, and rebates, Crossfires are being produced faster than they are being sold. I started a thread "Sales, Prices Falling" last week detailing my concern related to the oversupply. It either got deleted during the outage or was possibly "poofed" for some other reason. And no, I'm not bashing the Crossfire - I really enjoy mine. I just think that a car manufacturer owes it to their customers to try to strike some reasonable balance between supply and demand.
Where are all the Crossfires?? I see Z4's ALL THE TIME, but very few Crossfires. And I see about 10x as many 350zs as Z4's..
I'm here in northern NJ, right outside NYC. Benzes, BMWs, Lexus, their all very common around here.. the xfire has to be the rarest car around.
Where is that 11000 of them?

One of the salesmen started asking me about my Crossfire and he had nothing be great things to say about the car. He told me he used to talk crap about the Crossfire in order to sell RX8's (the Mazda & Chrysler dealership are on the same lot). Then one day he got the opportunity to drive a Crossfire and he was amazed at how much better it was than the RX8.
FWIW, A large national new and used car retail chain is now selling new 04 Crossfires for $22K.
 That includes freight and is for the 6 spd. You can get an autostick for $23K.
Maybe Crossfire sales figures need to have an asterisk beside them. "Due to gross overproduction, sales figures include cars that were greatly discounted and/or given away."

The Corvette numbers are low because the C6 is just hitting the showrooms. When the Vette hits full stride it will outsell the 350Z by a huge margin; impressive considering the Vette is much more expensive.
I'll always appreciate American cars first and foremost - Japanese shyt is ugly. Most people say the new Vette looks like a 360 Modena, so I don't what you're looking at when you say it's ugly. Ugly = new BMWs and anything out of Japan!
Since we're on the subject: man, I F'ing hate Japanese cars and trucks.

Nissan sold around 40K 03 350Zs. The last time Chevy sold 40K Vettes was in 1984. The Corvette is a legend and doesn't have to outsell other sports cars to maintain it's status. The C6 Corvette will be produced and sold in comparable numbers to the C5.

see, that's what i expect people to say, and think, about the crossfire in coming years. if it were a chrysler product then i'd wonder about them staying with the line behind small sales figures but it's so identified with mercedes that i think they'll stay with it.

I for one ,don't think" Crossfire "will be around more than 3-5 years, and any upgrades would only be bigger engines and HP.
DC can make more money on vans or real BENZ cars. Too bad because the Xfire is better looking than new or old Vettes and 10-15K$ less than BENZS.

The big difference is that Chevy had a conservative plan to get there. The Corvette was 10 years old by the time Chevy ever produced 20K of them in a year. It was 8 years before they even made 10K in a year. They increased production to meet the demand.
On the other hand, I'm afraid, Chrysler is doing a huge dis-service to its customers by flooding the market with Crossfires. If they only sell 5K SLKs in the U.S., why would they assume that 20K Crossfires a year will sell? The 350Z, RX-8, etc. would be expected to sell very well because they are feeding off the success of their predecessor.
I know many people here are happy with what they paid for their Crossfires and plan to drive them for a long time. But unless you're filthy rich you have to shake your head when you see new Crossfires for $22K. Chrysler didn't get to that price point by producing a legend.
