Default Warranty

Right now my Crossfire (2005) has 59,000 miles. It is very dependable car so far. I was thinking of buying a 4yr/60,000mi warranty for about $1,300. What ya tink? Dad tellls me not to do it lol.

I wasted my money buying a warranty for my car. I haven't had to use it yet, any repairs I have had to do were so minor it wasn't worth it taking in and wasting my time with the dealership. They way the cars runs and drives I know I will never need to take it into the dealer for anything major so I wish i hadn't bought it. Oh well, live and learn.

Honestly, I don't believe in extended warranties. There are some exceptions. I too bought one for my Crossfire because at the time I just didn't know how this car would turn out, being a DC hybrid. I never used it. I think this car is a proven reliable car. I think dad knows best.....

Have to admit, typically I don't either. Just purchased a 2012 Harley Heritage Friday before Thanksgiving. After having gone on a 1,000 mile round trip ride a couple years back, and watching a guys "new to him" Glide puke oil out the case, I opted to pay for a 5 year warranty on my new girl.

That engine puke was some check valve in the filter mount that cost him about 3 grand in rebuild.

Odds are I'll have this bike the full warranty period, but if for some reason I sold for another one.. that balance of a warranty will be mighty attractive to the next buyer.

Not enough info to give a decent answer.
What will the warranty cover for that amount?
Is there a "cap" on what the insurance will pay?
What warranty company?
Have you looked into their customer satisfaction reviews?

I bought a warranty (power train) for my 6 since I had never owned a car with a super charger. I paid $1500 for it and it came in handy for the replacement of the engine mounts and the replacement of the differential. So, it came in handy for me. But, what I didn't know was that there was a $3000 max payout over the life of the coverage. That's what happens when you don't read the fine print. So, half way through my warranty period (and no where near the mileage allowance), I have no warranty $$ left. It did help though.

Good luck on the decision.

a 60,000 mile warranty covers your car to 60,000 miles ,, so you want to pay $1300. for 1000 miles or 4 years,,the 4 years is only adding 1 year to the factory warranty you know.,,,am i reading your post right. or are you pulling our leg .
now 100,000 miles or 10 years may be what u think u need. jim

In my experience, when you buy a 3rd party warranty, it is for X miles starting from the mileage of what the car currently has. So, in essence, this warranty that the OP is talking about would cover the car to 120K.

So yeah I placed my bet I'd be seeing them eventually.. hell it even covers a shredded tire! Tow truck and all.. so this one I'm good with..

Suggest you self insure youself. Put the money in an account, add to it each month for a maintenance / repair fund and if you never use it then you'll be all that much the better off.........or you'll have a down payment for a new ride in the future.

Totally agree. I have my private car account that I throw a little money at it, and put money in it from parts I sell. It builds up well after awhile.

I had been holding out for a Blue Suede and Black model.. but everyone seems to want 2K over the going price for the model year because of the colors..

This one popped up while killing time..waiting for my sons driving test (sign up and come back later today!).. Price was good.. under 9K on the clock.. Added accessories.. Vance Hines pipes..intake..tune.. basically the mods I'd do.. Looked good with the "sunglow" feature.. (fine glitter in all the clear coat)..

Just couldn't say no.. LOL.
When asked about financing.. well they got all up in the friendly when I asked if a personal check was acceptable.. LOL

Yeah you pay more for a Harley.. but you can put it in a basket and sell it for more than most ricers in 10 years..

Click on your own "user gallery" in the top right of your post.. click into your album.. then you should have an upload picture option just over the 4 pics you have showing up.. upload them one at a time.. or failure is the most likely outcome..
