Question Looking at a '04 Coupe - Need some info pls!

Hello to all. I am currently looking at purchasing a Xfire however I wanted to get some info from owners (not the dealer).

1. How hard and expensive is it to change the oil? Do chain auto store carry filters?
2. Which is better the performance tires or the all season performance tires? I live in NE NC and very little snow/ice but do have lots of rain.
3. Is it a DIY maintenance car or is it better to let dealer have at it?
4. This will be my daily driver, anything I need to consider. I really need the gas mileage for a 112 mile daily round trip.
5. The one I am looking at I noticed no indicator light when cruise control is in use and AM radio sucked even though we have several strongs stations in our area.
6. MOST IMPORTANT!! What is the best way to get my wife to let me have my dream car?

Thanks in advance.
Dave S.

Easy to change oil, most auto parts stores carry filter MB SLK320... $98.00 if you take it to Jiffy Lube... I wouldn't worry too much 7,000 miles between changes.

Tires depend on your style of driving.

I wouldn't worry too much about maintenance either, the car comes with a great warranty... But it's just a Mercedes SLK320...

No cruise control light ???? never saw a car with one... And yes AM sucks, but so do the stations on AM...

Offer to buy the car for your wife; if she declines, insist that you would like to do that.
She will feel so great that you love her that much, you'd buy the car for her that she will counter with a return offer and allow you to buy the car for yourself.
However, if the wife decides to go along with your offer, she's driving a great car and I'm sure that once and awhile she will let you drive it.

A "win win" situation as they say.

1. Oil change is expensive but a little cost effective since you do it only every 7 K miles
2. XFIREX can hold very well in the rain...if in case it snows then I would use snow chains
3. Some can be a DIY maintenance like oil change but whatever you do, do it right and if you're not sure then go to the dealer.
4. If you're concerned about gas mileage and the cost...you need a Honda Civic for your every day car and leave your Crossfire in the garage.
5. I seldom use the FM or AM in my radio since I have my iPod to take care of it...10,000 songs should be enough for 112 miles. Cruise control indicator light is what they missed but you should know if you're in auto cruise or not anyway...you just have to get used to it.
6. Tell your wife you'll gonna have a car where others don't have and it's a Mercedes!

I bought my '04 Blk coupe last February. I resisted letting my wife drive giving her all sorts of excuses. She stopped asking and I really felt I won the battle till I came home one day to see a Red '04 in my driveway. We are now a two Crossfire family.

Talking Re: Looking at a '04 Coupe - Need some info pls!

Thanks to all for the info!!

After a week of pleading my case I just finally laid down the law and ......well, what else? I begged my head off. I know, I know but it worked. I picked it up the past Monday evening. WOW!! It is great. Now that my wonderful wife has driven it she wants me to get personalize plates. Can't decide between "SHHWEEET", "DAVZ TOY", or "TOY4DAVE". Anyway, of the questions I asked I can say this:
1. $60 DIY Oil Change
2. Drive great on dry or wet pavement, Snow? Taking the company 4x4.
3. DIY looks fairly common. Although got a deal with the dealer of first year oil changes free and 7/70 bumper to bumper warranty at no charge and no deductable. All that for a couple of scratches in the paint and 1 on the front wheel.
4. 28 mpg with some driving fun included.
5. AM still sucks
6. Begging worked best.

Next question: Where can I get a look at the luggage I'm suppose to be receiving and is it of any real use?

See ya on the road.

You will get the luggage in about 10 days, providing your dealer ordered it sent. As far as the quality, it's TOP NOTCH fits great in trunk...we have two sets because we have two Crossfire, and we have gone on vacations with it and it is perfect
Good luck with your new car

My dealer has sold two red roadsters, mine and one other. The person who owns the other has an '04 coupe and a Pacifica too. I think his wife drives the coupe, and you always need another vehicle if you own a Crossfire (and hope to carry anything other than another person).

The luggage is great! Each piece has the Xfire winged badge attached and the primary piece has Xfire chrome wheels with pull up handle. Very distinctive luggage.
