price dropping !!!
anyone check the value of your crossfire lately ??? Checked on KBB & NADA & Edmunds OMG when will they stop falling !!! My 03 GT Mustang is worth more !!! : ( So Im just going keep on enjoying this crossfire till they finally realize what a great car these are !!! : )
I saw 2 crossfire coupes cross the blocks last year. One at mecum and one at a Barret jackson auction. Both were poorly positioned ( early in the day and early in the cycle) and in great shape. $8,000 and $8,200, and I was fairly happy with those #'s. Often cars at enthusiast / collector auctions can fall hard in those positions. I was kind of expecting either to go for 6 and down.
Might not be expensive to buy but I'd hate to have to have any major work done. Luckily most of the stuff I've needed done in the past was covered under the extended warranty but that's over now so I'm just hoping that other than wear and tear items I'll be ok.
My experience is that the price will continue to drop as long as are common on Craigslist. Is more than a page of local cars right now from $5500 (asking) on up & includes two SRTs.
I wont be selling my Scarlet Rose, she's here to stay even if I have to put in some money here and there to keep her going.

In addition to what Padgett says: As values/prices continue to drop, there will be more and more people buying them that may not be able take care of them properly. As they continue to get "torn up" by people who buy them to use as "ricers," it will be the well-cared-for un-modified cars that will start to rise in value first. In my opinion, that won't happen for at least another 10 years. I suspect values of all will continue to drop for another 5 years, then plateau for 5 years before the good cars start rising in value.
So, enjoy them now and don't worry about what they're going to be worth in the future. If you haven't sold the car by the time the cars are worth a substantial amount of money, it won't be you enjoying the luxury of owning a valuable car, but your heirs.

Case in point: in 1987 when I acquired the Judge it was a $600 car. If it had been running it would have been worth more. At 17 it was pretty near the bottom of the depreciation curve and with all of the gas crises the most common "improvements" were to replace the RA 400 with a 350 and the Muncie 4 speed with a Saginaw modified to accept a BW overdrive.
Today being a documented RA 4speed air conditioned car with the Judge option it is worth a bit more.
Reattae (1988-1991) are just hitting the bottom of the curve even though thanks to a number of parts vendors on both coasts and in the middle just about everything is available.
When I bought my 88 coupe in 2001 prices were just starting to drop and I could not justify $10k+ for a 'vert. Here in 2014 I've had three convertibles and just kept the first one I bought which needed more work than the other two.
The Crossfire is still dropping though exceptions may be made for SRTs, eventually they may be equivalents to Grand Nationals (also only available with automatics). I wanted a manual trans which eliminated the SRT but didn't buy for future value, bought for fun today.
So would expect nice coupes to drop into the $5k range (inflation) but the sheer volume of Crossfires produced, 76,000 of them, may slow things a bit.
Just my opinion.

Are you buying it for an investment? Don't. If you're wondering if it's going to go down in value after you buy it, then, yes, it's going to continue to go down in value for at least another 5 years. When pristine un-modified cars become extremely rare, you will start to see a rise in value.
OTEkst Peterson;790824]It is really a personal decision, and it's plain and simple. It's a used car. If it's worth it to you, then it's worth it. If it's not, it's not. It's a LOT, LOT less expensive than buying a brand new car, so when compared with that, it's definitely worth it. It's a fun car, and relatively unique. You can travel hundreds if not thousands of miles across the country and rarely see another.

no I'm buying it for personal reasons cause I can't get no satisfaction lately lol... no Ive love these cars for such a long time and now I'm in a position to buy one I understand the value will not go up but I'm worried about me paying too much right now as it seems the prices are dropping and $10,000 can buy a lot of things.... If I wanted there is a white one with 150000 miles on it that's in pristine condition with leather but its an auto tragic but I can buy it outright for like 4500 but I don't know what kind of issues these cars get into after a 150k or should I just buy this black one with 33,000 miles on it with the cedar interior it's Mint but again and autotragic and for $10000 and yet again the one I really want which is a graphite grey with 90k on it with a cedar interior and stick shift is $8000 so what do I do???

The automatic isn't as tragic as the 6-speed gearbox they put in the Crossfire. It's not a fun manual. I wouldn't hesitate to buy an automatic, and I'm a big lover of manuals. If I had to do it over again, I'd probably buy an SRT with the automatic.
Keep an eye out on the classifieds, members sell there's here on occasion. Finding a stick is tough, took me awhile to find mine, but now has 125K trouble free miles.
