You might throw a feeler out in those two forums to see if there are any members in the Philly area.

There are a lot of members on this forum - maybe some in the Philly area that might put eyes on it for you and give you a fair assessment from an actual Crossfire owner. Not sure how you can actually find members just in the Philly area, but maybe a Mod might be able to help you do that.
Just a thought.

If you don't go on Sunday, all you need to do is drive over to the nearest DOT and get temporary tags for it. Or, if the seller would go for it, leave the existing plates on the car and mail them back to him when you get home. I've done that when selling, and when buying.
Also, one of the earliest Crossfires in private hands is for sale in the Buy/Sell section of this Forum (#27). White with a six-speed, and seems to be in your price range.

When I buy a car out of state, I usually rent a car from Avis or Hertz etc on a one way rental. That way, if I buy the car I'm going to look at, I can leave the rental at the nearest rental car agency in the new car's city or town, provided there is one, which I always check out first. And, if the car is not what it was represented to be, then I can still drive the rental home and turn it in, without paying the one way fee, which is usually a couple hundred dollars. It usually turns out to be less expensive than shipping, which can be undependable and has other logistic problems (I say this based on experience), and it eliminates the need to make a trip to see the car and then go back to get it.
Your local DMV can tell you if you can get a temporary tag to drive it home. If not, then you can go to the DMV in the town where the car you're buying is, show them your bill of sale and title, and they may sell you a temporary tag for the drive back. You can ask the seller to check this with his local DMV.
hope that helps.

A few years ago I bought a steering tow dolly with surge brakes for $400 and have used it a number of times. According to Florida statutes the towed car does not need a tag. Since the Crossfire is RWD & has a steering lock, I'd put it on sdrawkcab.
Have towed a lot of cars & trailers and once even flat towed a 70 GP 1,000 miles, you just need to be careful and gentle (and have a really good tow car).

I would buy a low miles car if it was me ! but not for 11K its worth about 9K max !! Just keep shopping lower priced ones are out there for sure !!! Got mine 3 years ago 04 with 21,500 miles on it for $10,250 & I wanted to pay less !!!
Well...womp womp womp...I went to look at a black 5 speed with cedar interior all the way in Jersey... almost Philadelphia! and what a s*** show that was....the headliner was falling down ..the tires were dry rotted.. the rims were all mashed up the bezel that goes around the windshield was all faded and scratched up... the car had various nics and scratches...the check engine light was on and the guys still wanted to $7800... I told him thank you for wasting my effin day!! I was super pissed...welp... on to the next I guess I'm not giving up
Yeah thanks I will....I cant believe I just stopped at a chrysler dealer and they wanted 13000$!!! ..for a 2004 manual with 73k on it...I almost laughed at the guy....
Did you check the 2004 down in the Buy/Sell area?
The headliner WILL come down on ALL coupes. Nothing can prevent it. Many on the forum have already replaced theirs. It runs about $150 if you remove the headliner and re-install after it's been relined.
That said, the seller should have told you what was wrong with the car before you made the trip. He not only wasted your time, but his own time, and only set you up to be disappointed. Whenever I sell a car, I make sure I tell every little thing that is wrong. That way, if the buyer still comes, he will not be disappointed, and really has no ammunition with which to throw at you.

Uggghhh whatever..I'm not giving up..I will have a good coupe!
Tats the nice thing about a sunroof car: headliner can be loose and no-one will notice.
Dry rotted tires are just bad. I took some I bought in 1993 off the Judge and seemed new inside and out, guess that is the difference when a car is garaged.
Add in the headlights being fogged, calipers dragging and the headliner down sounds like a car that sat in impound lot for a few years. Bet a careful exam would find some rust too.
Suspect you should take a look at Florida cars. BTW I have used the autotrain from Sanford to Lorton and back several times, 900 miles you don't have to drive and a hotel on wheels.
Bit over six large is what I paid for my 07 Coupe with over 100k road miles but really needing nothing except a dash light fixed (RSN), no rust, good tires, and clear headlights. And a nice cedar interior.
Only problem is still not real comfortable, may need to cut out more of the bulkhead & get another 1/2" back. Did spend about $200 adding Bluetooth/aux/hfp for a head unit that matched the dash. Am hearing impaired but 1/2 way on the volume is plenty.
Point is there are nice cars out there in the $6-$9k range - pay more for lower miles. However personally am more interested in condition than miles, just wish I could get comfortable in a roadster.

Thunder - your first try sounds a lot like mine. Found it on CraigsList, listed as a cream puff, drove 3 hours with cash in hand and it was a total POS. After pointing out what was wrong, the guy accused me of wasting his time and walked into his house and left me standing in the driveway. I then drove 2 more hours to look at another one after asking specific questions on the phone - another POS. Headed home, pissed and tired. The very next day, I found the SRT I now own .... and it was another 3 hour one way trip ... but at a dealer. When I called them about it, I told them I didn't care about what was "right" with the car, I wanted to know all that was WRONG with it because it was only about $1500 more than the N/As I looked at the day before. Salesman said it was pristine ... and he was right. I got VERY lucky and couldn't be happier with my decision to buy it. Keep looking - there are great Xs out there - several are for sale on the forum and you'll be getting a well cared for car by buying from a member. Don't be afraid to travel - a few hundred bucks in travel money may save you thousands by getting a much better maintained car. Good luck on your search - wish you all the best!!

I bought mine from CL also but was also looking at Autotrader. Most were at dealers. Wanted a roadster until I drove one and felt cramped (about an hour drive away, went with cash and dolly) Car was beautiful.
Did some looking at the specs and decided a coupe would work. Always wanted a 6 speed. At that point there were 20-30 for sale within 100 miles. Will say that all I looked at were well cared for and drove well.
I have a rule that three strikes and out. Coupe I bought had two: black and over 100k miles (an '07 so all road miles.) but price was half that of the roadster, was just a few miles away, private party, and cold AC. Do think the nice Gray/Cedar interior was the decider.
For under $7k I didn't mind taking a sawzall to the rear bulkhead and is a lot more comfortable now. Not quite perfect yet though, may still need to lower the steering wheel a bit.
Point is that there are a lot of nice cars at least in this part of the country and priced under your $9k budget. Just keep looking and you will find one but is good you are prepared to walk away from junk.

The link leads to a picture of a gray Crossfire. No information about it, except general stats and that it has 90,000 miles. Not much to go on. Personally, I would not buy from a dealer. You're going to get cleaner and better car from an individual, if you're patient.
yeah...I appreciate the reinforcement...I have been looking now more then ever after being let down...it's likoe..challenge accepted lol...I just can't believe that this douchebag with a popped collar and sunglasses on would tell me that the car is pristine and needs nothing and list it on eBay and CL and tell me that it's beautiful. ..I was pissed..but it's motivating...but I can't believe the blue book value vs what dealers want...I love the art of the deal but it's very frustrating..it's either way to high priced..to many miles...or not the right color combo ..and i want a stick....what do u think of this car?
