Default R.E.S.T & Car Alarm

I used the REST system for the first time yesterday and when I returned to the car, the alarm was going off, also for the first time. All windows etc. were closed.

Does anyone know if this is a coincidence or a related incident?

I use the R.E.S.T. regularly in this chilly weather and have not had any alarms. Could someone have admired your baby to closely?

My car doesn't have an alarm, just keyless entry. Did you guys add one on or did it come standard?

Oh and I've only used the REST function once for about 15 minutes.

CyberGreg; You have two alarms, remember the one on the dash in case someone trys to jack up your car to steel your tires or tow it away. Of course you have the regular alarm also. The alarm even has its own rechargeable battery pack so disconnecting your battery does not disable it.
Once the alarm is on, it is triggered if you: 1. open the doors, hood or hatch 2. try to remove the radio 3. jump the ignition 4. open the glove box

English_Bob,
If everything was working right and you set your tow away alarm, before you left the car, then someone could have set it off by leaning on your car.

There was a shady character lurking about when I returned to the car (he wandered off and then watched from across the street). It is possible that he set the alarm off either accidentally or deliberately. Hopefully just an admirer that got too close.

I will be using REST again in January so I will see if the alarm is triggered again.

Red face Re: R.E.S.T & Car Alarm

My alarm has gone off twice just sitting in the garage. I wasn't using the R.E.S.T. feature either time. It happened within a couple of minutes after I got out of the car and went into my house. This happened shortly after I got the car and hasn't happened since. There is nothing quite like the alarm wailing in an enclosed garage, talk about deafening!!

Did the garage thing myself, but I discovered that I just leaned on the panic button in my pocket.
