Lightbulb Neat radio function

I have not read my owners manual yet to see if this is in it or not but by luck I found that if you have your radio playing and just after you open the door you push the on/off button the radio will continue to play with the ignition switch in the off position. This allows you to listen to the radio with the doors open if you are detailing it or whatever and you don't have to listen to the door warning audible alarm. I just thought this was cool since all previous vehicles I don't recall this working this way but maybe they did? I just found it by luck when I went to push the button right after opening the door and noticed the radio keeps playing! Mike

It actually works up to several hours after you have turned off the car. It will however only play for 60 minutes and then turn itself off automatically.

Last night about two hours after I got home from work I went to the garage and ejected the CD and replaced it with one I had made using CD Text and of course it did not list the artist / title, just track 1, track 2, etc. I really, really can't wait for my new Becker to get here so then I'll have an real OEM radio!

Edit: I just checked the manual and it looks like if you press the radio power button within 3 seconds of turning the car off it will turn back on but perhaps stay on until you turn it off, bypassing the 60 minute auto shutoff. Someone will have to test that.

It must not be a battery saver then, because if you leave it on too long and it doesn't turn off, won't it wear down the battery? That's happened in some Chevy's we have.
