Strong aroma, limited exercise, never washed ......

Hmmmm, sounds like standing in a phone booth ( remember those ? ) with a French prostitute.

Just curious, those of you who drive so few miles, don't you worry about bad gas? I think gas stabilizers only last a couple years at most. Do you keep the tank full to avoid condensation or low so you can always add fresh fuel or ???

Hello, As anyone reading this probably knows I just joined and this is my first post. Having a hard time finding how to become a sponsor. I'm from Jackson Ohio but now live in Hillsville VA. My 2005 xfire coup had 41620 miles when I got it just over a year ago. It now has 42243.

By the way- Go Bucks! OH-IO!

My 2004 Crossfire coupe has 8,031 miles (you got that right, only 8,031 miles). Never been out in the rain. Bought it in 2012 with 6,761 miles on it. Owned by a rich lady who only used it to drive to her country club 5 miles from her home and 11 miles to her beauty parlor once a week.

I keep a double dose of STA-BIL in the gas tank since I drive only a few miles a month. Run the engine for 15 minutes on a short drive once a week, about 10 miles .

Talk about low miles , my brother in law just bought a used 2004 vette only has 675 miles on it when he picked it up ! Talk about new used ! This has got to be the lowest used car this age besides in museums ! He got a great deal on a basic new car !

Something to consider for the low-milage crowd.

MB suggests replacing tires every 6 years. A friend of mine slid off a road this summer in his Porsche and his insurance (THE major classic car insurer BTW) is fighting the claim due to his tires being 11 years old. Tread depth was fine, tires were just old.

What's the age of tires got to do with his accident ? If tread was good & sidewalks look good no cracking why then ? Most of the time our cars are garaged & out of the sun light ! I still have my original tires on my 2004 itch 27,000 miles ! Thinking about changing them this year ? Maybe ?

There's no shortage of credible evidence to indicate tire rubber is perishable and loses intregrity dramatically after 5 years. Regardless of tread remaining and appearance. Similar claims are being made that the crash that killed Paul Walker was the result of 9 year old tires.

I bought my XF last year, in April. The tires were new. What you are saying, in my opinion, is true. EVEN if you can't see any visual signs of DRY ROT, it may be there.
Before I gave my son my 87 Mustang GT convertible last year I changed the tires.
We checked the numbers on the tires and determined that they were 19 years old.
NOT GOOD. They showed no signs of trouble at all BUT, I will tell you they were VERY HARD. If your tires are over 5-6 years old change them. BE SAFE.

5 to 6 years old really ? I think I will stick with the 10 year rule & I'm not still sure about that ? I think it's the tire companies just trying to sell more tires ! If you have good tread & the sidewalls not cracked or checking what's the problem ? I will check into this further though !

10 years isn't unreasonable Ed, not by a long shot. Another place to look for dry rot is in between the tread. watch for cracking in there also. HEY, we all have our own ideas about things. Just be safe.

If your XF tires are 10 years old you're pushing your luck. Better avoid rain at all costs the compound will be hard. I wouldn't drive too fast either, at that age you can forget about speed ratings. Even if you don't crash consider the fact you don't have a spare.
