Default Service

Hi everyone

My XF has 12500 miles on the clock and is saying i need a A service. Can i do this service myself as it will only be an oil change? And will this be fine with my warranty if i buy genuine parts and put the sticker in my service book as a proper A service?

Thanks

The A or B service needs to be done at an approved Chrysler Garage otherwise you void the warranty.Nothing to stop you changing the oil inbetween services as long as you use the right parts/oil.
I've been waiting a year for my service book, did yours come with the car or did you have it sent to you?

My service book only appered when i had the car serviced as they couldn't find anything to stamp, the A is just an oil and filter you are paying for the stamp as usual!

It is my understanding than service need not be done by an "approved dealer", but can be done by anyone, i.e Jiffylube. You can even do it yourself--just save the receipts!

I got my service book with the car, but when i had some warranty work done it was noticed that the book had nowhere to stamp, it was missing all the service pages. They give me a new one straight away. My dealer has quoted me £250 for an A service, this seems a bit steep to me, anyone else think so.

I've had my car serviced 4 times and after reading this post I went to doublecheck my log book and discovered that the dealer has not been updating it. The first time is was serviced, they filled it out, but that's it. Am I going to have a problem with my warranty?

Think i will start to shop around, only problem is there arent many chrysler dealers in my area. My dealer is a good 40 miles away the the one after that is 70 miles. Can we have them serviced anywhere that is a registered service centre for example the AA service centres?

I don't have my Service Book yet and I will need a service in the next 500 miles or so.

I have seen an XF being serviced at our local Mercedes dealer. I think I might trust them to service the engine as they will be more familiar with it than the Chrysler mechanics. I will obviously check that this doesn't void the warranty.
