Key will not turn in the ignition.
I have a 2004 Crossfire and when I take the key out of the ignition then back in, it will not turn. A mechanic showed me a trick to just flick the key but it only worked when he did it. Does anyone have this problem? Now I just leave the key in the ignition and use my spare key to manually lock my doors but, recently my key will not lock or unlock. I think my car is falling apart. Any suggestions?

I am almost sure that this is too basic but did you try turning the steering wheel a bit?
Your Crossfire is not falling apart . . . you have an 11 year old car that will occasionally need some TLC. EVERY Crossfire will eventually have this problem. You came to the right place . . .
I think jmccaskill needs to be led directly to the "water". Look here . . .

Read it all . . . look at all the pictures . . . Then DO THE FIX NOW! It becomes much more complicated and difficult to fix the problem once those internal parts wear to the point where you can't turn the key at all!

What Harbor said and also check Facebook for the crossfire group, there are several tech savvy owners in Florida. I think there may be a couple of Florida Facebook groups too.
Old part number for 2004's to 2006's was 05098712AA.

I'm curious why MB/Chrysler recognized the defect and corrected it in later models without issuing a recall or at least a TSB.
( I may be wrong, I Googled for Crossfire recalls and TSB's, didn't see anything related to ignition assembly )

Many parts fail on cars through wear and tear and they are not replaced under a recall, they may be improved later if it does not cost too much.
Recalls are done when safety is an issue or bad publicity will be the result. A locked ignition in your driveway is hardly a safety issue. LOL
Anything that they do is balanced out, cost versus risk.
I think the answer is quite simple, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Wouldn't that be considered cost saving ?
Common sense from an American corporation, ANY corporation?
Problem solved, trust me.
Im a member there also, but I'm in Atlanta.
This is not a locksmith job, it's a shade tree mechanic job.
That would just be TOO SMART. That's why it didn't happen . . .
