Default PlastiDipped Matte Black Stock Crossfire Wheels

Hello, I Plasti Dipped my 2004's wheels black. Includes glossifier, and a coat of clear coat. I really like it, was a lot of time spent getting the lines perfect. Just wanted to share with you all.

I generally don't like murdered rims but you did a nice job and it looks good. I think the silver in the spokes contracts nicely with the strakes and door handles.

Thanks for the compliment. I know it was a risky choice, and it was difficult. I photoshoped designs before hand and made a good plan. I am still worried about how this is going to hold up long term, but I have a nail in my tire, and soon I am going to find out how this holds up to having that repaired. Really worried about that machine that takes the tire off.

I can easily fix anything that happens to it, but that is not what I want to happen.

Very nice job.
I would be interest in how the tire machine works on the rim as I did my rims also.
Haven't had a flat since.... but aren't there "plugs" that can be used??
Best to ya on it.

That would look good with your grill done to match!

Make sure the tire shop you go to wraps the bead buster & tire removal tool with electrical tape. That way there is less chance of marring the rim when both removing & installing the tire.

This looks awesome! I am incredibly jealous. I've been wanting to do something to my rims(just got my car a month ago) and I just wasn't sure what. I have an 04 red coupe just like that. I would love to do something similar to this. Any chance you can make a how-to for us? Or for me specifically.

Mate, you have done a really nice job of those wheels and they look great with the red car. How did you get the silver lines etc?

Hello everyone. Thanks for the compliments. I love the rims, they are still going strong. These are the stock rims, I sprayed them with Plastidip Plastidip is great because it is actually rubber like, or is rubber. So if you don't like it you peel it off, and you can cut and remove pieces of it easily. I cutout the indented lines that are already on our rims.

If you look close you can see I took it all the way to the tire, um..please don't cut your tire and blame me later . I then cut our the center cap
and then the little squares on the center cap.

I even had to repair a tire and took it to a place in South Fl called Elite Roads, and didn't get a scratch.

So these wheels are painted with Plastidip Matte Black - about 10 coats per wheel. It comes in a spray can, you cover the brakes with a trash bag, and take your time. I then used 3 coats of Plastidip Clear...I wanted it to be more shiny than that so I then added about 3 coats of high gloss engine enamel.

i added the black rimblades in the link in my last post..this helps reduce the worry of the edges peeling...which is where plastidip will peel off first.

I'll try to find the photos i took and put them here.

Is that really a bowl on the roof? Looks like it could scratch the paint.
