1 st gear

A friend in Las Vegas has a 2004 that pops out of 1st gear. What is the dealer fix for this problem. Thanks rpr1bob

I don't know if I have the same problem but when I am reversing out of my driveway and I stop to put my car in drive, it skips backwards. It's like a weird jurking feeling. Would that be the transmission?

That is a problem with many early 2004's. There is a TSB for this problem. I believe it is a synchro problem; the dealer should have the fix for this.

I have had the box replaced by my dealer two weeks ago, and the stupid thing still pops out of gear!

I had a Mustang with this problem and it was the throw out bearing. New transmission is the answer. You would get it rebuilt on an older car but this is new and under warranty
