Bump in the trunk. Annoying rattle
Not sure how many of you have actual subwoofers in the trunk, I have one 10" in a ported box that causes a hellacious rattle from the latch mechanism. I know for certain that it's not the problem where you wrap it with tape because I've already fixed that. So I took the trim cover off of the hatch lid and found a small plastic piece that I assume is a part of the handle mechanism that has quite a bit of movement. Is this normal or is there something broken? I would like to find a fix because it sounds like hell every time the bass hits.
Just took it apart and found the culprit. I'll have to take the latch mechanism out tomorrow to see if I can find a solution. I'll post results if i get it figured out in case someone out there is having a similar problem.

Eightball200. There are some really old posts on here dealing with the latch mechanism. It was a problem on the earlier models. Pretty common. Good luck with your fix.
To stop the bumpers rubbing off the paint on my '04 I put some Gorrila tape on the bumpers. The SRT has clear stick on decals that the bumpers hit on the car body. That works the best, normal tape there just gets pushedbout of the way.
I had to adjust my rubber bumpers to stop them rattling, it worked just fine.
