Default Interstate Battery - Tight Fit

I just installed a new Interstate battery in my '04 coupe. Bought the battery at Costco according to their fitment chart. The battery fits fine in the battery tray, but it's slightly taller than the one that came out, so I couldn't re-install the wire bracket that holds the battery in the tray. The battery sits solid without the bracket, but I used some wire in place of the bracket just for insurance. Looks half-***, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to design a new bracket to hold down the battery. Any suggestions are welcome.

Yeah, that was the first thing I tried. Thinking of fabricating a new wire bracket. Have to find the right gauge wire.

What is the battery number?
It is a good thing to let us know what does not fit, it could save someone the same trouble.
We help you, and you help us.

I'm at work now, but I'll post the battery type later.

These ones used to fit.
Interstate Mega-Tron Plus #MTP-H6 this is now #MTP-48/H6 - available at Costco
Mega-Tron Plus #MTP-91, this one was a bit low and needed a spacer under the rubber pad. CLICK
The AGM battery is MT7-48/H6 - available at Costco
All these batteries should fit under the clamp when you check the sizes.

Listed below is the model Interstate I purchased last week, and it fits perfectly in the battery tray. I was able to use the hold down strap without any issues.

This is definitely not the Interstate battery I bought at Costco. Appears that Interstate supplies a different type to Costco. I'll post details as soon as I can.

That battery is available at Costco I got the two batteries I list in post #6 from the Costco (US) site, listing them as fitting the Crossfire and this is one of them. The battery sizes fit as I checked them. H7/48 is the class and size.
Batteries from 7.44" to 7.56" high fit just fine. Perhaps you have an odd ball setup due to replacement

I'm embarrased to say that I re-installed the battery (that I previously thought was too tall) and it fits fine. I had it on the bench the day before for a pre-install maintenance charge and something stuck to the bottom. When I installed it in the car it sat too high so the hold-down bracket wouldn't fit. The battery looks different than the other Interstate battery in this thread (shown above). If you look carefully on the top you can see that it's distributed by Costco. This battery doesn't have a built in handle like the white battery. Makes installation and removal a knuckle-buster. I understand that Interstate is a marketer, not a manufacturer. Johnson Controls is one of their main suppliers, but it apperas there are others. Looks like these Interstate batteries are from two different manufacturers.

The main reason I LOVE the 'vertical hood' feature, is the access to the battery. Makes it MUCH easier to get the old one out and the new one in. Just in case, you do know about the 'vertical hood' feature, don't you?
