Default Borla feedback

Can someone offer their observations about the Borla Cat-back system? I'd like your impressions about change in performance and exhaust note. Would you recommend the solution to others?

Thank you!

I had a Magnaflow muffler with custom 2.5" tubing on the car for about 5 months, I hated it, it was too loud, dronded and rattled, the performance was the same or worse.

I changed to the Mopar, it's the best mod yet to the car, the sound is pretty close to stock, only a little louder, not much.

I feel the performance is better, a bit more low end torque.

Borla is a clone of the stock mufflers except a little difference in the sound...which you can get from the stock after a few thousand miles. So why spend more money for the same thing?

Where are you getting this from? A clone? Can you prove the temperature and flow of gases is the same in both systems? Is the backpressure the same?

I had a Magnaflow setup much like yours and let me tell that both in terms of sound and performance it sucks compared to the Borla.

It's expensive but I think it's well worth it.

Look at the design of the Borla....the same loop as the stock obstracting direct airflow for more HP gain. Now, with my magnaflow..I'm very happy with it as of now until some company will come out with a better exhaust ( not just mufflers like Magnaflow and Borla ). I was feeling good about Billy Boat's exhaust set-up with the Crossfire Speedster but was disappointed that they're not willing to manufacture one for the crossfires.

So, no data huh?

I think you can't judge a system by looking at it, exhaust design has many variables.

It's basic principle on airflow...others may agree on this...that obstracted airflow does not gain any HP! If Borla is really good then why are our Crossfire autocrossers don't jump into it? Plus, does Borla have a performance dyno on how it can improve our system? If there's one, can you post a pic of it? It can be a good reference source for everybody and might even convince me to get one.

And if you're happy with your borla...enjoy it if you think it's worth the price!

I think Borla has a reputation and that they know a thing or two about exhaust desing, if they just did a clone of the stock one why did they take so long to actually sell the thing?

Remember our cars are nor turbocharged, it's not just a matter of getting the largest pipe and no muffler at all to get the most power out of the engine, a free flow setup would actually hurt the performance.

I know because that's what my Magnaflow setup did, there was no power below 4,500 RPM, even if I could feel a gain in HP above 4,500 RPM.

You have to mantain backpressure to get torque at low revs, and also keep the gases hot in a naturally aspirated car.

Since I drive my car 80% of the time below 4,500 RPM, this works out better for me.

I have the auto and I get my low end torque below 4500 using the Upsolute chip and the autostick.
