Exclamation Wind Noise Problems

Just thought I would let everyone know that if they are having wind noise in their XF's take them into your service department. There is a service advisory on them and they will replace the weather stripping for free. My dealership told me this is common complaint and that Chrysler has let them know to replace them. I had mine done a week ago and my car is so much quieter than it was before. I use to have a good amount of wind noise in both windows but it has subsided.

Thanks for that mate.
I have just bought my Crossfire a couple of weeks ago and I have noticed a bit of wind noise from the driver's side.
I am going in to the dealer to get a new key programmed to the car so I will speak to them about it then.
I hope the U.K. dealers know about this as well.

Norrie.

If they still can't fix the wind noise...fix it yourself! Buy a Metro weather strip from Autozone and stick it inside the gap between the stock insulation and the metal which is the exact size of the weather strip. You car will be quite as a cave!

Enjoy your ride!

Cyril,

Can you give us more details on this? Have any pics? Where exactly are you placing the weather stripping?

If you try to feel behind the rubber insulation in your top door frame you can feel a gap around 3 quarters of an inch. Fill this gap with the weather strip and make sure you pull out the sleeve of the original insulation to cover the weather-strip that you just put in.

Hi Cyril and all the happy owners of this gorgeous car! I'm from Russia and just bought mine Saphire Blue Limited. I love the car very much but I've also noticed the same problem you guys have here - the horrible wind noise coming from passenger side. Frankly speaking the dealers in Russia are not very experienced, that is why i've decided to fix the problem myself. Cyril, I'd be very grateful if could possibly devote some time and again explain how exactly you made it. My english ain't perfect that's why i really need some explanation of your previous posts. again, thanks in advance!!

1. re weather strip: is the one showed on this website convenient? http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/c...ants/42200.htm

2. what is the exact place for it - please check my picture attached:
weather.jpg

3. "make sure you pull out the sleeve of the original insulation to cover the weather strip that you just put in" - could you please rephrase this?

p.s. your car looks fantastic! i'm also looking forward to install the srt-6 front bumper soon.

Hi Cyril,

I thought it was Golfergal that posted this reply on the weather-stripping...but found it and realized it was you. Can you please clarify the model/part number...Metro brand ??...but what part# and was it 1/2 inch "rubber"? Thanks in advance for responding and clarifying this wind noise solution.

Ben

In first time... HI TO ALL!!!
It's my first post here, and thanks for this simple solution. I've the same problem on my XF coupè (left window) when I release the throttle over 160 km/h and the problem is continuous over 200 km/h...
I'll try this system.
Thank you!!
Ciao
Federico
