Hey I have a 2004 crossfire and my belt is making noise, it needs to be changed. I would like to do it myself. I was just curious if anyone knew the level of difficulty and the process of doing it, thanks guys and girls, lol.
First, does your have the little hydraulic dampener attached to the tension idler ?
Some 2004 models do.
At any rate, all you need is a 17 mm socket and wrench or pull handle.
There is a 17 mm extrusion on the bottom left of the idler where you connect and turn CCW, this will relieve the belt tension.
You can also insert a proper size hex wrench into a supplied hole when you fully rotate the idler to keep the tension relieved, but most don't bother with that.
When putting the new belt on, get it in the grooves on all the pulleys, the last thing you do is then do the tension relief again and place it over the idler pulley.
Another option is driving 131 miles to my place and I'll do it for you

Well I’ve never done this before, the closest thing was a alternator change on an old Mazda mx-6, 🙁. Well I live n baton rouge Now so I doubt I’m that close. Thanks so much for the info and I’ll see if I wanna take a shot at it, your notes were kinda in Spanish for me but I have the service manual too. Are there any problems areas I should look for?
Well, if you are now in Baton Rough and are not too much of a chauvinist, you could contact Crystal, she has done it many times since she and Marc own 6 Crossfires.
Get the belt off, then check the tensioner pulley and the idler pulley for ANY play or noise when spinning them by hand.
If they are OK, check the black shiny water pump pulley same way, no end play, no up/down play and no noise when turning.
If that is OK, then maybe the alternator, PS pump or A/C pulley.
Also eyeball the crankshaft pulley when running for any movement ( the rubber dampers inside can deteriorate ).
From what I could see in the video, the crankshaft and water pump pulleys looked OK.

Ahem... 7 Crossfires. Get with it George.
(my tagline needs to be updated: plus a Black Roadster & minus a Black Roadster )
Thank you so much, crystal actually sent a video on how to change it n ur right it’s super simple, 17mm socket. She also gave me the name and number of her mechanic to help. One last question, do you know of any thread about repainting interior panels, Ike the glove box, underneath the steering wheel n the side panels on the gearshift area? Thank you so much for all your help and knowledge.
I saw a post over a year ago where a guy removed them n painted them red ; not the color I’m going for but it was a good post. Can’t find the post any more.

I saw something in a Mercedes R170 Group I am in. I need to do this myself. I'll try to find out the info for you.

Look in the For Sale section, he's put it up there. Click on his name, the look for posts he's made or threads he's started.

Here is the conversation I was talking about in my Mercedes Group. They have the same interiors as us, just different colors. The paint process would be the same though.
The eBay Item Number he was talking about was for a cream interior. You may have to do some research to find the right color for your interior. I can't remember... Is your interior black or gray? Or is it red or white? I have the eBay listing saved for the paint for the dark gray (black) interior because that is the one I need. I can send you that link if you have the dark gray (black) interior. It is actually called "Dark Slate Gray," but it looks almost black or very dark gray.
