Rear hatch lock sticks
If there is rust find out what caused it.
It's easy for road dirt to get into the lock mechanism. Suggest opening the trunk, place a crummy towel across the trunklip to collect drip, and liberally douse it with WD-40 or silicone spray.
It has done 36,500 miles. I’ll add a photo of it.

WD40 is a great degreaser and decent short term lubricant. The problem with WD40 is, it will gum up over time (1-2 years). I like to do an initial soaking with WD40 to degrease and then chase it out with a PTFE based lubricant. I usually use Triflow. The teflon base does not gum up overtime.
