Hey everyone recently something went wrong with my transmission or shifter. I only have 3rd and 4th no other gears. It feels like it engages other gears but I only have 3rd and 4th. Also the shifter is super sloppy. Has this ever happened to anyone else and if so how did yall fix it?

 

How do you know you have 4th and 5th? I'm not following this.

 

I dont have 5th I put 05 because that's year of my car

Let me guess what transmission you have, on second thoughts why don’t you tell us. Maybe the mileage might help.

 

My money is on an automatic, as there was no 6th gear mentioned.

 

The OP mentioned 3rd and 4th, Pizzaguy mistakenly mentioned 5th.
I understand that only 3 and 4 were available, so why mention any other gear.

 

I'm sorry if I have left information out it's my first time posting on the forum, but I have a manual transmission and the car has 151000 Miles on it

 

After you get it in 3rd and 4th, you can not down shift into 2nd then 1st ?

Might check the linkage from the shifter to the transmission.
Get underneath 1st and feel around, it is above the driveshaft.

 

I dont have first or second at all I have to start in third, and ok I'll feel around for it when I get home from work thank you, and what exactly should I be feeling for? Like if its lose or what are some signs?
