Default Mirror

I don't know if this has been addressed before. I am baffled. I just noticed a few days ago what looks like a some what cloudy oval
at the top of my mirror. I daylight or night. Anyone have an idea what this is? Hope the picture I took tonight helps.

That is a 2004 auto-dimming mirror - common problem over time.
I'm just lucky mine hasn't done this yet.
There is no cure, other than replacing the mirror.

Thank you. I kinda thought that might be the cause.
Where can I get a replacement, if I decide to go that route.

Just in case you might be interested, my wife suggested I check with Auto Zone for a replacement.
What does she know, right. Any way I picked up a clip-on for $16.99 and it works GREAT. I don't
drive the XF at night so don't need a dimming mirror. This is actually bigger and covers the back of
the car nicely.
