Exclamation Airbag Light on after Seat Removal

Ok, so I took my seats out today to vacuum under them. I replaced them and they worked all fine and dandy, but the airbag light is now on in the dash. Are the seats in any way related to the airbags? Im wondering if I didn't get a wire hooked up all of the way underneath or something. I wanted to check and see if anyone had any similar problems before I took it to DC and they found something stupid.

Thanks!

Is it easy to remove the seats? What are the steps in removing it. Thanks!

Yeah, 4 bolts, the seatbelt bolt, and electrical connectors. Pull them straight out. When the airbag fuse is blown, does it make the light come on or it won't make the light come on at all?

Thanks!

Try turning the passenger air bag on and off using your key. It's located on the side of the passenger console, you have to open the door to see it.

The light I am talking about is the one to the left of the instrument cluster by the steering wheel. It shows a guy with his seatbelt on and the airbag deploying. I'm assuming this is the air bag light. I took the fuse out of the block under the hood and replaced it and also took the negative battery cable off for about 10 minutes to try and drain the codes out of the memory (like the old Fords and GMs). The light was off for about 3 minutes, then it came on again. I will probably have to take it in and have it looked at by the techs. I hate to do it because it takes all day and they usually don't ever find anything. Any other suggestions will be helpful.

Thanks.

Removing the seats to vacuum under them? Hmmm.... If I were you, I wouldn't tell that story to DC. You would be right. They would probably find something stupid.

yes, one of the wires under the seat is related to the airbag, i had a wire that rubbed through and it caused the light to come on. dealer replaced the little harness and that fixed it. so you might want to pull the seat back out and double check the connections, if not then take it in and see if they will fix.

Cool...Thanks, I was going out of my mind thinking why in the world that these two events would be separate. Ill double check them after Arlene comes through this week. Much appreciated!

At least when you crash and die because the airbag didn't go off, they can say that under your seat was very clean!

just kidding, I am as **** as you also. You probably didn't get the connector plugged in all the way.

i think that even if you did get the connector in all the way, you still might have a problem. Once the airbag light goes on, it will NOT go off by itself. It considers this a fault and you need the dealer (or a DRIB III) to run the "airbag verification test" (check out your service manual) to reset the indicator light.
