Help please. My brake light on driver side of 04 crossfire coupe goes out when I apply brakes. Any suggestions, thanks

The bub is either in back to front or the wrong bulb.

 

Yes, what number is the bulb you installed? Just any tail light bulb doesn't work well in the Crossfire.

 

Sylvannia 7528 LL is bulb I used. I matched the high and low side bulb pins and followed clockwise screw in of socket.

 

The recommended bulb is a P51 5W or equivalent. They are available on Amazon. The little connectors on the bottom of the bulbs are different for the crossfires and sometimes others do not make good connections.

I went to Mercedes Dealership and purchased bulb and dash board brake light still comes on when apply brakes!!! Please help me somebody, Thanks

 

With your engine running, how far down is your brake pedal going when you press firmly on it? Have you checked your brake fluid?

The dash board brake light has nothing to do with your brake lights. There is a separate light to inform you that you have a light out.

The only time the dashboard brake light will illuminate is if your parking brake is set, your brake fluid is low, or your brake pedal is going down too far when you apply the brakes.

Thanks Jared but I used wrong descriptive term , I meant the light bulb light that come on on dash that indicates a bulb is out. However at the Auto store I had it brought to my attention that the third break light on top of trunk lid was no longer working. And that could be reason . I am trying to determine the part number so I can order a new digital bulb. On line I see from $25 to $169 so I am totally confused. Anyone has changed the third brake light of 04 Crossfire Coupe and know part number, Please help me, Thanks

 

Check all of your marker lights too, they will also cause the warning light to illuminate.

There is a company that repairs the 3rd brake light, new ones are expensive. You could buy a used one but it may be busted as well. Others have had the nerve to cut into the light and fix for themselves.
Check that power is going to the 3rd brake light terminals before you start spending money though.

 

Thanks for this info Sir, I will check the power source cause I did have someone slam it down really hard when picking up voting machines and it may have broken the light. Thanks to everyone for helping me solve my brake light problem !!! The bulb was not connecting on one side of the little pin when you turn the bulb in the socket. Worked closely with the connection til I was able to set bulb in socket that allowed side pins to touch area needed for activation. Sincere appreciation to everyone!!! Yvonne
