Default Funny Story

Well after seeing these posts about SRT-6's at less than 30k. I decided to check one out at a dealership. The salesman kept on trying to act like he knew what he was talking about. This one has the automatic, lol, as they all do. Anyways, I told him to run some numbers on the srt-6, I said, 12k miles 1k down, and 36 months.

$765 a month, lol. I told him for that kind of money, i could buy a 03-04' used Z06 and save over 200 Bucks a month. He said maybe but the SRT-6 would cream the Z06. ROFL, I was still chuckling even after we left about that. Then the manager said, no I would take a z06 over the srt-6. (Kinda shaking his head at the salesman) So that killed me buying a srt-6. I could lease another M3 for less. For those looking to buy one the price he quoted was 43,xxx on it.

My dad was with me and while we were walking back to my car, he said the thought of paying that on that car (said something else than car) made him sick to his stomach. I agree, especially once you drive that car off the lot it is worth less than 30k.

wanna see a bad deal? Keep reading...

2005 350Z 35th anniversary edition, 6-speed, navigation, etc...
price: $39,xxx
$1500 due at signing

Plus, the salesman tried to convince me that the car was better than the new Porsche Boxster S in handling, is faster than the Evo, etc...

lol, the 350z's are slow. I raced a super charged one, and by 3rd gear I was passing him.

I still don't understand why someone would pay that much for a Z. Did some research and the fastest N/A 350z with out going crazy is trapping at 107. lol

Forget about trying to figure out WHY someone would pay so much for a Z. My question is WHY the Z is usually well over $600 per month lease wise when cars in the same sticker price range lease for between $350 and $500!

This is due to depreciation. On a lease you are paying payments on the amount the car depreciates. For example a $30,000 car that has a residual ( value at end of lease term) of 20,000; the lease payment is based on the $10,000 depreciation plus the money factor (interest). So the 350Z depreciates more than some other cars; that is why the lease payment is higher; and, possible the interest rate may also be higher.

Quite true. The depreciation is a huge factor, as well as the projected market demand at the time of lease end.

IMO, unless you own a business or can write off the lease payments as a cost, then leasing may be a costly financial event. ie: 1000+(765x36) = $28540 +

So that at the end of 36 months you have no equity and possibly an additional cost if your miles are over 36,000 or there is "wear".

But that's just me...

Leasing can come out to be good to, as it will with me and my crossfire. Say I bought it before the big price decrease (even no way in heck i would have bought it) and owed 30k. 3 years from now it would be worth in the mid teens. And i would be lucky if i could get out of it with out being upside down. At the end of the lease i give the car back, and say good riddance.

A honda dealership by me is leasing Brand new s2k's for $309 a month, no money down, w/ approved credit. Not too shabby.

I'm leasing my '05 Crossfire for $350/month with 0 down - out the door.

The advertised price was $289/month I believe, but I had to add $1000 to the term of the lease since it was my first Chrysler lease, and I didn't get the FULL employee discount, just some of it.

I still think its a great deal for the amount of attention this car gets.
