Has anybody had a brake job done at the dealership yet?

If so, how much did it cost and how long did it take?

 

I have a set of front factory pads, like new 800 miles, $50.

heck...i'll give you my new pads (front & rear)...less than 500 miles. you pay shipping.

those dusty factory pads will never be on my car again. they are just taking up room in my garage.

but if i were you...i would go for "rotex gold" dust free pads. a real cleaning time saver imo.

how good are the stock rotors? i have about 27k and am going to be doing my brakes soon too and was not sure about swapping out rotors.

 

what kind of rotors would you be swapping the stock rotors out with? Do you happen to know how much the whole package would be?

 

Not that I need them at my current mileage, as my front pads are doing well. What brand of aftermarket pads (non-race) are you guys switching to?

I would like a pad that stops well when cold (most of my mileage is highway) and also does not create excessive dust. On my SC400 I used to use GREEN STUFF pads and they worked very well. They did not need to be heated to work well, they did not squeal, and were friendly to the rotors. Is there something like them for the Crossfire?

 

Early on a lot of guys went with Green Stuff but lately the consensus seems to be Rotex Gold. I've been running those for a couple months now. Brake dust has all but disappeared and they perform quite well.

 

I, too, am tired of the brake dust and after reading everyone's recommendations on the Rotex Gold pads I just did an internet search for additional info. I found very few positive comments from anyone on these pads. It seemed to run about 10 to 1 AGAINST them. Yes, they do seem to be practically dust free, but they squeal and are not even equal to OEM - according to the posts. Is anyone using anything OTHER than the Rotex Gold?

 

I'm using Rotex Gold and they are working great. Not one peep and no visible dust.

I've had the Rotex Golds on my XF for about 6 months now. I love 'em. The brake dust is virtually gone and there's no brake squeal what-so-ever. I haven't noticed any difference in how the car stops either. I'm sold. I'll never run anything else. If you're still running the stock XF pads, get out and change them. There's nothing like washing your car and still having clean wheels 2 weeks later.

 

Okay, thanks everyone...I'm going to bite the bullet and go for it. No brake dust has got to be the way to go.
