Default Alarm not working

Hi Forum!

SI basically my alarm system doesn't work. When I press the button on my remote, nothing at all happens.
I vaguely remember reading a while ago that the alarm has batteries that go bad and can be replace?
Is that the way to go? If so how do I get to it.
Or would you recommend replacing the whole alarm unit?

Is there a video/pictures to be found somewhere?
Thanks for your replies.

Tommy

How long have you owned the car? Has the siren ever worked? The siren has built in batteries that go bad and many times short out. It is possible it has already been unplugged? It is located under the cowl in front of the windshield. You must remove the wipers to take it off. The siren is right in the center. Do a search for removing or replacing the siren,

The key fob has batteries as well, are they OK?
There is a fob battery check you can do, look in your owners manual or look for how it’s done on this forum.

I have had the car for a few years now. I remember when I first got it, the alarm would randomly go off spontaneously. It did not happen often but would happen from time to time. Then one time when it went off, it just kind of fizzled out and died. Would make sense that the batteries went bad.
So do you guys think I should just replace the batteries and that should do the trick?

After all this time save the effort and buy a new one that beeps when you open or shut the doors.

Replacing the batteries is more trouble than it is worth, the control board is probably toast anyway. It must be cut open to even see how much damage.

Do you guys have a video/instructions on how to replace alarm and which one to purchase? I did the buzzer mod a while back so my car beeps when locking/ unlocking but it's easy to remove so might as well get the siren with the beep.

Alarm part numbers,Click
Two sirens are shown, one attaches with a screw just like the original and one attaches with a nut and washer which you have to supply.

The location of the siren is shown in the attached PDF.
The PDF also shows how to add the missing insulator around the drivers side windshield wiper stem which is missing on all Crossfires it seems.
It also shows the debris under the cowl which eventually plugs the drains and causes problem withe the heater fan etc.

Thanks very much for the instructions. I wanted to take off that cowl anyways to clean out debris so this will be perfect timing for it.

Glad to be of assistance, and thanks for the thanks. 😀
There are four drains, one at each end and two in the middle. It is the one on the passenger side that causes the trouble.

Any tips on how to prevent debris backup there in the future? Is there anything I should to while having the cowl off besides cleaning and making sure the drains are free of any dirt and grime?

If you can you should fit the isolator, as they call them, as some dirt could go down that hole and it stops people saying ‘Why is that hole so large?’.

It is the rubber seal that goes around the windshield wiper stem where it comes through the cowl.

This is now happening to me TNT. My alarm goes off spontaneously and now when it goes off the alarm sound is very low.
Did you find a solution to fix this?

Thanks!

The batteries in the alarm siren are shorting out. Use the search feature at the top of the page by putting in replace alarm siren. It is easy to do. You can also just unplug it. It is under the cowl in front of the windshield.

I went ahead and unplugged the alarm. I’m not really worried about having an alarm where I live but I am contemplating ordering a new one anyways. What’s nice about the new alarm sirens, they come with a beep when you luck/unlock your car so that’s pretty neat.

For now I removed the siren though. Easy to get to,too. And like everyone else said, a great opportunity to clean your windshield drains of any debris.

You have to get the correct part to get the beep.
