Stay or go????
I was just told that I may not be getting a new '06 for my '04 lemon because there are too many Crossfires sitting on lots & in the ports. Chrysler still hasn't started production on the '06's.
Chrysler will trade me a new '05 if I find one I like (apparently they can't find the exact car I have now) or they will buy me out of mine for every penny I've spent. That works out to a free car for the last year!
I bought the car at the employee price in Aug. of '04. I thought I got a good deal at $32k.
Now I can get an '05 for less!
Even though I love the car... it has always been a little impractical.
If I get my money back... its smart money.
I could get a used '05 of something else & come out far ahead financially. I know I shouldn't look at a car as an investment but the Crossfires are tanking! 200+ days on the lots & they can't give them away!
I would like a back seat. Kids may be in the future soon.
If I got a different car... I would get an Infinity G35 coupe or an Infinity FX45 (SUV)
As I look around on the street at these other two cars... they certainly aren't as unique as my Crossfire. That I would surely miss!
What would you do?
Bail out & save about $10-$15K or,
get an '05 & know you're driving around in something unique you probably paid too much for?
What would you buy instead?

It is only a decision you can make. Are you looking for a consensus? What do you need? We all bought Crossfires because they where what we wanted and probably not what we needed. If you are going to need a back seat and the crossfire is your only vehicle you will either need to trade or buy additional.
I consider a Crossfire a luxury it was something that was not as much a financial decision as it was more a hobby or fun decision just like a boat or other recreational vehicle.
I think you have to look at it from the stand point of your own personal needs first and wants second. Gee I sound just like a Dad, Sorry but this is an opinion and you asked for it.

I would suggest getting your money back no matter what, rather than taking a trade on an '05. That way, even if you choose a Crossfire, you'll be able to negotiate a great deal on one with all the extras they have on the lots and in the ports. Personally, I think the FX45 is ugly, and that the G35 is awesome but far too common on the streets. If I was in your shoes, I'd consider the 2005 Pontiac GTO. You hardly see them on the streets, they have some cool colors to choose from, and you get the same LS2 motor that the 'Vette has in it with 400hp. All for less than the G35 coupe.
TAKE THE $$$ but watch out (GAS). Maybe a Lexus RX330 hybrid for fuel economy with the baby! I can donate if you need "it" hahaha. just kidding Laura!!! DUMP the Crossfire OR get an SRT6 and I'll buy it!!!
What if you take the money and buy an '04 leftover at a deep discount at another dealer? I believe some have posted that they have paid around $23,000 for an new '04. Then, with the leftover money, you could get the Kleemann supercharger. Just an idea.
1-40.6 beat me to the punch. Take the money and run to EBAY! Buy a brand new 04' for around 22K (believe me, they're out there). Take the left over 10K and use it as a down payment on a family "Truckster". Just don't make it another SUV. You live in Calif. YOU DON'T NEED 4WD for crying out loud.
I don't think she had paid off the old 2004, so there wouldn't really be 10K left over. Just a much lower monthly payment if he used her entire refund (a year's worth of payments + down pmt) as a down payment on the "new" 2004. And I'm sure it would be nice to have a much smaller payment each month.
i am also have been considering an infiniti as my next car, either g35 sedan or the fx. have you considered an fx 35 as it is cheaper and if you don't need the awd of the 45 the fx 35 rwd is just as quick as the 45 and handles better, plus the fuel economy.
If I were in your situation, I'd get the money (if they really give you those $32k). Then I'd buy a cheap 04' leftover and save the difference for mods or an other car. As you don't have this case in your poll, I voted for the trade-in. Like Napasanaoma wrote, will got the Crossfire because we wanted to have something special - not practical!
Good luck with YOUR decision.

I would take the 05'. But if you need or want a back seat then this is a no brainer. Hope you enjoy what you decide to get. Remember to wave at all the crossfires you see as we are all friendly.
Take the cash and just start shopping again. consider it a redo.
If you wind up with another xfire you will know it is the car for you, and you will have some cash leftover for other stuff/mods.
You can't seem to go wrong here, as long as you have a way to get to work in the in-between time.

Why couldn't I be so lucky??? I could put sugar in the gas tank and I would probably still get 300k out of it with out a problem lol.
Goodenough, take this opportunity as a blessing because that is exactly what it is. You just got a way out of the a huge money loss as your 32k Crossfire is now worth retail of around 20k.
What I would buy is an M3, however, I don't see how you could go wrong with a FX45. Either choice is still better than a Crossfire.
Maybe I can get as lucky as you and get my Crossfire lemoned. That would truly be a day of hard core rejoicing.

I just feel the need to chime in that, I did get a good deal on my crossfire and I am in no way made of money. I felt it was worth the price I paid when I bought it and don't care what it is worth.
You guys are all here on the internet, so I'll assume you all bought computers that are now worth nothing, right?

Can't give you a sound advice on which option... all look so tempting.
Well, I can offer this advice tho.
Take the money, stay and mull over those several suggestions that you already have.
Once you don't feel like contemplating, finally decided, then go go go with no sour taste.
All the best GE.

I am going to stay with my Xfire. I love it and I have not had any trouble with it. It is a 2004 but I would not mind getting my hands on a SRT-6. My car will only be driven during the summer months. The very first sign of snow and it comes off the road. Heck! Here in upstate NY that could be tomorrow.
If I could get that rear bulk head cut down about a foot that would make a big difference. Right now the seat doesn't go back far enough and forget about reaching around in the hatch. Not to mention lack of low end torque the list goes on. Like mentioned we all knew or thought we knew what we were buying. I have had mine for 7 months now and have put 2K miles on it. It does look pretty sitting in the garage. If I had it to do over again oh well.
I would definitely "take the money and run" and figure out what you want on your own! As said above, count your blessings that you got the full amount back and can start all over again. If you think kids are in the near future and this will be your only car, then the Crossfire wouldn't be the best decision. Just my two cents!
