Default Gas Tank Cover

Well I had a new discovery today. My outside cover for the gas tank cap came off! Fortunately I recovered the very small piece of plastic that held the whole assembly in place. I super glue gelled it in place. Once it hardened, I built it up with epoxy to actually make it better than what came from the factory. Any way it came off during a touchless car wash during the high speed drying. It caused the gas door to pop open and then it came loose. Has any one else had a problem with the gas fill door? Mine is now better than factory.

Actually no and I really do not want to take it off, It would be my luck it would break again. But the cover slides onto the swing arm and is fitted with guides that hold it in place while you slide it on. At the end is a small "U" shaped ramp that snaps the cover in place this was broke off, but I was lucky and found it. I glued it into place and made it a solid ramp by filling it with epoxy. I think Chrysler better carry some spare covers or a repair kit. I was really surprised how flimsy this was. I am also surprise this has not happen to others?

While the part you repaired may be on the flimsy side, car washes tend to break things which is a good reason to avoid them at all cost. Glad you got it fixed.
