What Other Cars Will The Crossfire Out Run??
I'm talkin coupe limited, roadster, srt6.
Be sure to state clearly the model your giving reference to.
OK let me ask the question with four different questions.
1 - What cars will the Crossfire beat on a red light type run?
2 - What cars will beat the Crossfire on a red light type run?
3 - What cars will the Crossfire out run on the top end?
4 - What cars will out run the Crossfire on the top end?
Now we all know we can research the internet for specs, but specs don't hold up on the highway. If you know first hand of cars that cannot or can beat the crossfire in a heads up run or a top-end run please list it.
Please do not give "I think" or "I guess" type replies... just "SRT6 kills the Mustang 429 BOSS in a red light run" type replies, with commits.

question 3 and 4 are pretty clear cut though since the car is speed limited at, I believe 155. So any car that can't reach 155, I'll beat...and any car that can go over 155 will beat mine...

I can't give you examples (gave up street racing a long time ago when I had to start buying/maintaining my own vehicles instead of driving Dad's) but I would go by published specs and take it from there.
Why not look in a road test digest of any popular car mag, and compare 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times, etc to see how the car stacks up? It's quick, but so are a ton of other cars on the market. Some of them, like the Accord V6, are rather unsuspecting, yet it will show its tail lamps to many a good sports car. Ditto the Legacy GT, WRX, Altima 3.5L, etc. I would say simply that the Crossfire is "fast enough to be fun", and involving enough that you actually feel the sensation of speed. But, I think no one would debate me, if I were to say that the Crossfire is not any serious drag racer's first choice. Or second. Or third.
Just remember if you do this stuff on the street...nothing out runs a Motorola two way radio. When it costs a meager $35 to run in the brackets at the local strip, why not just make a Sunday of it in the summer?

Having gone from a Mustang GT to a Crossfire, I can compare just within my own world. The Mustang was faster - especially from 0-60. The Crossfire seems to have an edge over 60 for acceleration, but so what? If I wanted to drag race, I'd have gotten another 'stang. The Crossfire has way more "fun-factor" and that was what I was looking for this time around. I take highway ramps a lot faster in the Crossfire than I ever could in the Mustang - cornering is lots better...
I drove a slightly modded Grand Prix (GTP) before I bought my Crossfire, and my old GTP would've smoked my Crossfire. Although the handling sucked.

When you start with a heavy midsize GM barge and try to better the Crossfire's handling, I would say it's a pretty difficult undertaking. It's beyond financial consideration, and into the realm of completely re-engineering the fundamentals.
If a Crossfire owner and a Grand Prix owner both had ten grand to play with in upgrades (power upgrades only on the Crossfire, suspension upgrades only on the Grand Prix), my guess is that the Crossfire would still be a better car on the track after the wrenching was done.

I think his comment was well intentioned, but not entirely clear. Maybe he meant that it is a lot more expensive and difficult to make the Crossfire faster, than it is to make the Crossfire handle better. That's a comment I would buy any day. I think your (and my) mistake was to interpret this as the Pontiac vs. the Crossfire.
